Hi Part Mouse, so sorry to hear that remark was so close to you and your passed.
Have you ever been to a Cessation Nurse? A Nurse especially trained to help you stop smoking, but who will also be sympathetic to your particular needs, and no doubt have some knowledge of your depression etc. Your GP quite possibly has one, perhaps it may well be best to see your Dr first about it.
You make an appointment and receive 1 to 1 help every so often, we've had great reports of them helping folk break the habit - as well as using them using the thread. We're there as support every day, but you get to see a CN physically possibly once a week or fortnight which is so good for so many. They actually look forward to the extra incentive that the physical contact and support gives them. Also, given all that you tell her she will then either offer you different options to stop or suggest just one.
CNs also check your CM (carbon monoxide) readings which really excites people stopping the fags as it's another wonderful change in the body with all that muck being got rid of.The levels change sooo quickly too!
If you really want to stop, do consider making an appointment, I honestly think this is what you need and I'm sure you'll benefit immensely and possibly crack it once and for all - imagine that!!!

Hi Sue
Please don't be sorry at all.
I have been under a cn for awhile but we had to stop as It wasn't working for me and kept stopping and starting and she said it was making things worse. Now with the surgery I just have to stay stopped.
Thanks again for your advise, sorry for brining the thread don.

Hi all,
Part Mouse - the elastic band tip has negative connotations for some people and some people are opposed to it because of the link to self harm and being quite popular on pro anorexic websites, but it has benefited me enormously, but obviously you have to find what is safe and what you can control.
Your posts are not from a happy place at the moment and I hope you can find the strength to get the freedom you seek. You haven't brought the thread down at all, giving up smoking is not normally a happy time for most people and your posts on here are honest and open and that is half the battle to move on. Facing your fears and demons and using those fears in a positive way.
Good luckSmoke Free since 1 January 20130 -

Good Morning all from a very snowy Somerset.
Good Morning, Part Mouse! now tell me this much, are you still not smoking? If you're not, then be extremely pleased and proud of yourself and your achievements so far - they are enormous!!!
As warez says, use your inner strength to help even more at these times. You must have some things in life that make you feel happy so whatever they are - so it/them and try to bring some happiness into your life. Can you knit, crochet or sew?
I wish you a good day and the courage and strength to keep plodding on and getting through this.
warez is right, you're not bringing the thread down at all, you're working your way through this...so much to be happy about!!
Hugs, Sue xxx
Good Morning, warez! So, is it congratulations on making it to Day 17?? Your first time THIS far in?!!!! I'm quite positive is will be, though to be absolutely certain, I'll hang fire for a bit.

Morning All!
Yay Yay, officially recognised by Sue as the longest I have ever gone without smoking!!!!! Go me!
Is it easy? - no.
Do I want it? - yes.
Am I going to continue? - yes.
Am I sleeping? - yes.
Do I feel better? - yes.
In a weak moment, have I been tempted to have a fag? - yes.
Am I a non smoker or an ex smoker? - at the moment an ex-smoker.
I am so chuffed. Resolve and willpower have only been attributes that I have seen in other people and wistfully envied from afar - but that is me!!!
Reading posts from previous ex-smokers like mandz1 really spur me on. They have done it, so I can bloomin well do it!
Evenings are still horrible, inner monster trying to get me to have 'just one fag, go on, it won't hurt, you've cracked it now'. Er, no I haven't so I have to argue with the monster and tell it to go away. It does eventually.
I haven't got any profound statements today, as I am far too chuffed to get my brain in gear, but I hope the excitement that is leaping out from my post will be help enough to those people that are struggling. If I can do it, ANYONE can.
BUT I know this isn't it but this was a big milestone for me. Need to set myself another goal now.
Good luck today everyone!!:)Smoke Free since 1 January 20130 -
