Well done on today, really tough I know, but you CAN do it. Just think how annoyed with yourself you would be if you caved in. I know it drives you nuts and fags are all you can think about, but kick them out of your mind, do something else, jump up and down for 5 minutes, ping that elastic band, ANYTHING!!
Just a few of the mad things I find myself doing.
Sue is right, pride is a powerful thing and I know I would have relented before now, but pride and the shame at having to post on here has carried me through. Then you get to the point where you think 'bloody hell I can do this' and the days come and go and you ride through the moods, panic and frustration and fight to live another day.
What I am hoping now is that live starts to even out a bit and fags go further and further back. I look at my partner and don't envy him smoking one bit but something in my brain can't let go. But the part is getting smaller and smaller.
I am with you every step of the way so we can support each other.
And with big brother Sue watching how can we fail!!!
Keep going, have a un-contaminated evening. xx:)
Part Mouse - try to find something to do, read an inspiring book, look up motivational quotes, have a bath, lie down, close your eyes and focus on a pure white room with white net curtains billowing in the wind with the windows opening, keep focusing on it, it is a great relaxer. Do 50 sit ups, scream, cry, but please don't give up now. You know you have to do this, your body will thank you for it. xxSmoke Free since 1 January 20130 -

Oh that's utterly fantastic, anablle!!!!!!! :T:T:T You may well be starting to turn a corner - it mightn't feel like it, but I reckon you are. If not nothing would have stopped you - but common sense kicked in and warez and I were there for you.......
........and beware, cos we will remain that way..ever watchful.
You won through and should be so chuffed. Take great care of yourself IF you go scramblingagain.
How about going to see your friend? A girlie chat, a friendly ear could be just what you need.
Stay strong, stay positive and always stay focused.

Ah Anablle, rubbish isnt it.
I know exactly how you feel and you could take it one step further and say 'sod it, I will have this fag and then pretend that I havent, no-one need know'.
Trust me, I have thought this one a LOT. But then I think, well I'll know so when I post what would essentially be a lie, the only person I have cheated is myself. In fact most of the time I am coming up with all these ridiculous scenarios to have a sneaky fag. Then talk myself out of each one.
Thing is, you were absolutely certain you were going to have a fag but something kicked in and stopped you. I know in part it is because of this thread, but don't kid yourself that it was just that. It was your STRENGTH! You made a choice to not falter and you did fantastic.
I know it's hard, I really do, but both you and I have come so far, it would be such a shame to go through all this pain for nothing. What a waste of an opportunity when we are probably SO CLOSE to not feeling like this.
We can do it, write down the good points of smoking....... won't take you long will it!!!
Chin up chuck, you did really, really well. Every strop will get easier (I hope!). Lots of positive energy coming your way.:)Smoke Free since 1 January 20130 -

Please don't beat your self up, we're only Hunan and its just a blip. Keep strong and get ride of the rest of the fags.
Warez I'm going to try to sleep feel extra spaced out, like I'm not really on the planet.

Morning All!
Not a bad day yesterday, bit weird being at home on my own, first time since I gave up.
Had an engineer come round yesterday and he gave up 10 months ago and he was very very overweight, we are talking morbidly obese. He said that it is since he stopped smoking. He is trying to address it now by diet and exercise but said he had to crack smoking first. He said his Doctor couldnt answer him when he asked the question whether he was in a better position now smoke free and obese, or when he was smoking.
Found the whole encounter quite depressing as it was facing my biggest fear. BUT I then started doing squats whilst waiting for the kettle to boil, whilst the bath was running and am going to go for a long walk today to try and counter the effects of giving up smoking on my metabolism.
First for me last night, I went straight to bed and sleep without having that argument in my head about wanting 'just one fag'.
Anabelle - you will be so chuffed with yourself this morning that you didn't give in yesterday. Keep that feeling going and have a brilliant, fag free day today.
Part Mouse - One day at a time, think positive, treat yourself well, keep busy, you CAN do it.
Good luck today guys, every day is no smoking day. xx:)Smoke Free since 1 January 20130 -
One more sleep for me and it will be my two year milestone :j
Yes, that'll be me walking on air today, that'll be me with the nice hair and the nice teeth and the non-smelly smoky old cloud around me.
I had a real pampering weekend to treat myself. I got a pedicure yesterday and had my hair done today at one of those posh salons I would not usually dare to venture. Mr Kiwisaver even noticed and commented on my hair - now there's a first.
All those 'first times' as a non-smoker are so poignant and serve to check off another baby step along the journey, another day or another situation where you coped and managed without a ciggie - so do remember to treat yourself along the way, you all deserve it. :TMortgage

Gosh, well done you and you sound so happy being a non-smoker.
Hopefully that will be me and everyone else on here soon.
Well done. :TSmoke Free since 1 January 20130 -

I do feel sick of moaning and blaming it all on the fags I'm prob just a miserable git :rotfl: x

Good afternoon, everyone, I hope it's a good one for you all.
warez, please don't give that engineer another thought! No one gets to that sort of weight in 10 months - whether you've given up the fags or not!! The only way he got to that sort of weight is by face-feeding for a LONG TIME!! To my mind he just wanted to justify how big he was and thought that would do it - utter rubbish!!!
I've got an under-active thyroid (hypothyroidism) so my metabolism has been very low for a long time now and at the worst I only ever gained 1st since stopping smoking, truthfully! That's why I bang on about doing exercise.
You reacted wonderfully straight away by doing the squats! :j All credit to you, warez, you're doing so well with stopping as it is, but then someone like him spins a load of bull**** about HIS massive weight increase and it makes you a little panicky for a while, BUT do you crumble thinking "oh heck that'll happen to me!" NO - you get on and exercise instantly! Then you go for a walk - everything we should ALL do on stopping the fags to get maximum benefits.....
a) to help us stop munching
b) to help when cravings strike and
c) to help with making us feel far happier and release the endorphins :grinheart
Don't give him another thought - he's big because he eats BIG!!!!
Oh by golly, did I ever have a wide grinwhen I read about how you went straight to bed and sleep without having that argument in your head about wanting 'just one fag'!!!! :j What a HUGE step! Yes, the 'thoughts' might still happen now and again, but YOU won't get flustered as you know things like that happen and we just cope and get on with it.
BTW, terrific advice for Annabelle and Part Mouse!
Hugs, Sue xx
Though, just to put right a slight mistake, Part Mouse, Annabelle did not have any cigs at all, she had simply thought of doing so, but then changed her mind and thought much better of it!! :j :T
Brilliant going, Annabelle!!!

Hellooo Kiwi!! It's really good to see you back soon - to hear your splendid news too!!!!! I'm saying nothing more about that until tomorrow...but try stopping me then!
Isn't it just wonderful when you walk out feeling like a real lady again, smelling really lovely, teeth glistening, breath fresh and wanting to bother with such things as an expensive hair-do! You truly deserved all that and more with all you've achieved!! :T:T:T:T:T
Thank you so much for the inspiring paragraph quoted below. All things such as that really can give so many the incentive to carry on as - that will be them too - soon enough!
Sue xxx
A paragraph below of Kiwisaver's, everyone, to take note of and inspire you on to achieve your goals, and for you to have all the same rewards..as you too will deserve and will afford them!!
