    Hi all

Sue yes im still here, not feeling great at all :( feel really sad and stressed :( so many things going on right now.

Well done to all those sticking with it.
  • Hi, well done everyone for doing so well. I'm having a dilema today... I used patches for the first 2 days and I've not used any since then. I then moved on to Nicotine Chewing Gum and Inhalator and I found it ok. Today I've run out of the chewing gum and I'm struggling without it. Part of me wants to buy more to make it easier and another part wants to get rid of the dependancy of nicotine. I will admit, I'm terrified of going cold turkey, partly because I'm scared of smoking again and partly because I'm wanting to avoid the withdrawals and how moody I'll get.

  • Hi, I'm also having trouble concentrating...I used the word 'partly' 4 times in that post!:)

Don't allow yourself the time to be stressed, Part Mouse, you've gone over a WHOLE DAY FREE and that's so much to be feeling so very, very proud about. :T

Go on out for a really good walk, go on, grab your coat and go!!!! You'll feel soooooo much better when you return!

Don't give in whatever you do - think of that operation in 3 weeks and how you want and need to be much healthier and give your body the chance to recover properly!

Go on, PM, you CAN do this!!! Stay strong and focused, busy too!!

    Hugs Sue xxx

Hi debtisgoing, and well done for being this far away from fags.

Why not get some patches and keep in, but go for cold turkey and get it all over with so much quicker?!

There's nothing to be fearful of at all....apart from you getting healthier faster.

Have you got an Alan Carr easyway book, if not try to get a copy and keep on reading it through, it'll be a HUGE help. You're bound to have concentration problems at first, it's lack of nicotine, but don't let it rule your life any longer than it has done - it has absolutely NO right!!

Whatever you choose is right for you, remember that and keep right on pushing forward to your goal. Remember, debtisgoing, I was where you are now just over 14 years ago, I honestly thought I'd never, ever do it.......

........now I've getting on for 14 years and 1 month FREEEEEE!!!! You CAN honestly do it, just let the fear go and press on, please, for your sake, for your LIFE!!!

    It's all doable!

  • Thanks Sue, I cant find my Alan Carr book, think I must have lent it to someone, so I'm going to order one online now. It was approximately 14 years ago that I first started to stop smoking. How ridiculous is that, it was by keeping on using NRT that eventually led to me smoking again. I'm not going to buy the chewing gum but I've not quite built up to getting rid of the inhalator...my final bit to get rid of!

Religiously post on here, pride is a wonderful incentive and even though it is cyberspace, the duty I feel to do well for Sue has helped me enormously.

Ahhh, warez, that's just about the sweetest thing anyone's ever written on here...yet it's splendid for you and for me!! Absolutely lovely and if it's spurring you on - it's downright marvellous. :kisses3:

Brilliant work, debtisgoing, then after you've read it through again, try to leave off the inhalator too, and keep right on moving forward. 14 years comes as no surprise and I guess it took me that long to get there. That's why I do the threads, I want others to have what I've got and I've never been happier since I quit, truthfully! :D I'm so pleased you'd already worked out what my thoughts were about the patches, personally, I believe they're too much for too long - then comes the drop and...bang! Back again folk go! :(

NOT you though....not this time! That 14 years (for you and for me) has to mean something...THIS is your time...your LIFE!!!! :D You sound so very determined, debtisgoing, keep battling through, use the inhalator for now, get the book, then go from there - and just NEVER stop!!!! Your determination has really given me a buzz, thank you!! :grinheart

That's it, Part Mouse, keep as active as possible. It will even make you feel better for the depression - seriously! That's why I go on and on about getting out and having a walk, it truly does release endorphins into your brain making you feel so very much happier with everything in life.

Try what warez uses to help her <<<"I have an elastic band around my wrist, everytime I am absolutely convinced that I am going to have a fag I ping the band really hard. Come on, PM, this is your time to stay strong, your time to shine and be truly happy once you've got the fags out of your life. :grinheartThey honestly used to make me so depressed, but now I never think of them and am so terribly happy!!!!

    More hugs, Sue xxx

    Hi again, Part Mouse,

The idea of the elastic band was nothing to do with self-harm, that was just a little quip that warez added to the end.

So long as you're twanging the elastic band when you get a craving then that's fine.

With the exercising, do more than you normally do, that's vital for you to feel better. You obviously have problems with depression normally so, please, go for a good brisk walk at least twice a day...and if you don't work and have an exercise dvd at home then you can work out with that too! The more the better!

One thing to remember is that the fags could easily have been causing you to feel unhappy as, until now, you've not been able to stop, but if you can stop smoking then I'm sure you'll find things a whole lot easier - and be happier.

Keep going and get used to not having any more fags and you'll soon start to feel like smiling again. :)

Apart from anything else, PM, you need to stop smoking for the next 3 weeks to have the operation! If you can stop for that long - and YOU CAN - then you CAN stop for good. You'll be smiling fine by then! :D

Read through all the posts on the thread, PM, right from the start and you'll find many that will help yo see that you can do both stopping fags - and smiling. For now though, you can't expect to feel wonderful on the 2nd day.

A day at a time will get you there and have you feeling so different.

    Hugs, Sue xxx
