I stopped smoking on 6th november 2011 using champix, I forget how long i used it for but it was not the full term they suggest you use it, i had to stop as it gave me really dry skin all over my face it was all very wierd but as soon as i stopped taking them it cleared up and i have not looked back ever since and dont ever intend to again.
We have so much more money now to spend doing things together as a family, dont know how long thats going to last mind as i am not 20 weeks pregnant!
I feel 90% more fitter than before
Well thats enought chatter from me i will pop back when its 6th of november for my 1st year smoke free :j
Good luck to all that are starting out and in the early stages,
YOU CAN DO IT KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND NEVER LOOK BACK XXX
Hi there ellionic! It's really wonderful to see you back and having QUIT!!!!!!! :T:T:T:T:T Congratulations on such great success!!
I'm so pleased the skin eventually cleared up for you and all still managed to go well, with less champix too!
Great news about the forthcoming little one! :T Postpone the gym until after the birth, it'll still do you a lot of good and help a lot in stretching your lungs to a far better capacity.
I really look forward to seeing you back again when you're a full year free!
All the best, ellionic and terrific news! :grinheart

I think it was your pledge to be honest.
Whenever I get a craving I need to remember how hard that 1st day was and remember that if I have 1 I'll be putting myself through that all over again.
Off drinking with friends tonight  Will let you know how it goes. Could do with the pledge being made into a screen saver for my phone :rotfl:
Hi Hannah, I thought it was you who'd planned it to be the 1st October, well so much the better then and healthier nearly a month quicker! Marvellous news of the 2 Days 16 plus hours !!!! :T
What great thinking about The Pledge on a screensaver for phones, any techno boffins viewing??!!Keep it in your mind...at least you don't need anything else then!
BTW Hannah, here's the link to Silk Quit meter to keep check on your savings, amount not smoked and life saved etc http://www.silkquit.org/sqmmiv/meter.aspx
Take care going out drinking and please don't overdo the alcohol! If any of them go outside for a smoke, stay inside and keep away from it all  .....and to any offers of the demon weed
"No thank you, I don't smoke!" :grinheart
Well done and stay soooo proud!

Have been missing in action for a while and not caught up with posts so I'll just say a quick 'Hello, to anyone that knows me.' And then I'll write summat proper, like.
I just fired up my old laptop which presented me with my SilkQuit Stats
One year, seven months, three weeks, five days, 11 hours, 44 minutes and 44 seconds.
9067 cigarettes not smoked, saving NZ$6,275.03
Life saved: 4 weeks, 3 days, 11 hours, 35 minutes.
I expect the price of ciggies went up seven times, at least, since I entered my data, so no doubt the savings could be quite a bit more.Mortgage
Start January 2017: $268,012
Latest balance $266,734
Reduction: $1,278.450 -
Hi again, Kiwi! I only thought about you last week and wondering how you were out there in NZ, all to do with the Olympics...not that I expected to see you as a competitor!
By golly, how your stats have risen again, it's absolutely amazing!! You're quite right about the price of cigs, imagine what you'd have been forking out for them now.......if you hadn't been so very sensible and said cheerio to them. That smile just about sums up our response to those nasty little beasts.
Very Many congratulations on so much a time gone by and such a great achievement!!!! :T:T:T:T:T
Looking forward to you writing your 'summat proper'. You're always so welcome here any time, I hope you know that, so don't be a stranger.
Best wishes to you and to Kiwi land.

Hi all.
Just popped in to say hello. I remember being so jealous of a poster who had done 11 days and now I have too :j
Honestly never thought I would get this far and it seems like a lifetime ago when I was tentitively typing that 'should I cut down' post.
Started reading the Alan Carr book but not really got into it yet. Sure it must get better but at the moment he just keeps repeating himself and reminding me about smoking!! lol
I'll let you know when I finish it anyway.
Take care all and speak soon xxxx0 -
hey guys  thought I'd pop my head round the door now I have a quiet moment.
Fergie where was my wake up call? Didn't get out of bed until 8 am!!! Wicked news on 11 days :T that's brill, proud of you treacleBTW I read the book in the past and don't expect it to get any better written at any point, he's not a writer and it needs to be accessible to everyone. The point is that it really is easy to stop, just stop and then the cravings go. After that its just not lighting another - simples!
Hi Kiwi  hope you are keeping well! I thought of you a couple of months ago when I watched spartacus, and there was the moment when everyone was saying "if I can do it", then you came in and did the famous spattacus scene, do you remember?
Your stats look amazing and I am so pleased for you, but also it pains me!why oh why did I start again???? My stats would be that impressive too now... Oh well...
Very pleased to say today I decided to try without a patch and just take it with me in my bag in case of emergencies. There haven't been any, smokign hasn't been on my mind, although I am about to hit my second ice pole

Excellent Fergie, you really have been amazing throughout!!! :T:T I think maybe it was cheesytwist who had got to day 11 at the time. I remember I could tell you were turning a bit green at the thoughts that it wasn't you!!!Look at you now though!!!! :j
I'll be perfectly honest in saying that, when you first came on I didn't think you had any intentions of stopping the fags, but then you totally shocked me by saying you'd stopped!!!!!! :j I LOVE such times! So, for all those thinking about it, just as you were, it's far, far better to just get on and do it.
Brilliant work, Fergie stand proudly with your head held high! :happylove

Oh determined, I just love your description of going bare back!!! Have you got a horse? Just thinking of lady Godiva!! :rotfl:T'would certainly give you totally different thoughts in your mind than cigs!!
I saw what you said about Alan Carr not being an author, D, but the poor chap's passed on, so I don't think he'll be able to change the way his book is now! :rotfl:
Well done on trying without a patch, just always keep that one at the ready, just in case. Well done with the Ice Poles, lovely and refreshing and long-lasting.
Keep up the terrific work, D, don't worry about Kiwi, you too will be way ahead this time next year!!
Very best wishes to, everyone, this is so worth going through. Have a look through all the posts and see what you think! Smoking just never pays......but by golly YOU do...and through the nose too!!!

He does repeat himself a lot. I read some of it in the bath but had to keep stopping and re-reading where he waffled. Then he writes about the fear of stopping and you realise that he really does understand what it's like to change a habit that you've got used to for over half your life...
Well done to everybody in your various stages of smoke-freedom:D Whether it be a few hours or a few days, you are all determined to break free from nicotine. Time for a fresh start. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Morning all. Wow the thread is filling up nicely at the moment isn't it?
Welcome all and hi also to any lurkers not quite ready yet. Honestly not that bad once you start though
Determined.....get out of that bed now and get showered
:rotfl:
Very impressed you are taking the patches off. I don't think I am ready for that yet as still getting the bad witch sometimes beckoning  It's really weird as the cravings come at random times. I went to an evening meeting last night with some colleagues and all day I was fine but hey ho half way through the meeting I was craving like mad. Nobody smoked and we were indoors so no idea where that came from??
Maybe Nic is having one final push to get me back but he can beep off...lol
Anyway, good luck today everyone and stay strong xxx0
