Day 12 today and still going strong I am happy to report :j x
Hi all,
Oh Determined you are doing so well and still sound so upbeat...that's great.
Not been on last couple of days as been really busy at work. Glad you've been getting up and showered without me :rotfl:
All pretty much the same with me. 2 week landmark today and off to see CN at lunchtime. The 2nd week has gone much quicker but I must admit has felt more difficult than the first.
All good though and didn't have a patch yesterday (as lost my last one in the morning???) Still felt ok though but will get some more today and follow Sue's advice.
Take care everyone and stay strong into the weekend xxxxx

Awwww Fergie, thanks! Don't push yourself lovely just listen to your body and do what feels right. remember slowly wins the race. I know what you mean about the 2nd week being harder. Today is the 4th day without nicotine, so I am no longer addicted but there's something - gosh so hard to find the words to explain it, a tight feeling, a something I don't know but I know what I mean! Stick with me and we'll get there!
Aww JD sorry to hear about work!!! Re running you know what sometimes its sooooo hard and others its less so. I always think it depends on how rested I am, what time of day, how much energy I've consumed, whether I've drunk enough water through the day. I always find the first 10 mins the worst as well, towards the end I can just keep going and going!
opps better get on!DF as at 30/12/16

Me and you against the world girl!! lol :rotfl:
Went to CN. Reading down to a '2' now. Gave me 2 weeks of patches and I'll go back then.
Good luck with the running JD :T

hello all!!!!
so far 2 days, 2 hours and 30 mins! going strong!! been hard as ive just been sat around doing nohing, well sorting out my finances (boring!!) but had to be done!
Well done to all those who are going strong,
Hannah, that was my problem just having something to do with my hands!!
And i cant remember who suggested nrt but i read alan carr's book and he suggets that it is only putting nicotine into your body, therefore not getting you off them
Both ways i have quit for 6 months
But this time its for good!!!
hope your all having a good day!!!!0 -

Oh how marvellously you're doing, determined, brilliant work!!! :T:T Re the feeling: D'you mean a tight feeling in the chest, head or???? It'd be interesting to hear more....I think!
I quite agree with what you're saying to JD though, we all can do best some days but not others, and that relates to most jobs or anything at all come to that.
BTW D and JD, thanks to you both for your lovely thoughts, I truly am grateful. At the moment all the itching is back! So, we're now convinced it's the former antihistamines I was put on (I always need them due to allergies) as mine weren't working properly. So, stopped those and onto previous ones and back on with the condroitin & glucosamine. Still itching furiously and smothering myself with E45 Dr gave me and hoping it gets better soon. ore than that I can't do, but I always appreciate it could be far, far worse!Went to CN. Reading down to a '2' now. Gave me 2 weeks of patches and I'll go back then.
Considering where you live, Fergie that truly is such GREAT news!!!!!! I'm so pleased you're going to the CN, from all I've hear they're marvellous ladies! :T The reason for the 2nd week blues is often due to the excitement waning a little; a lot of folk have had it, worked through it and then get to feeling like they did in week 1 again. Please, in other words, don't fret about it - you're perfectly normal!Be very, very proud of all the work you've put in and all the good health you're now getting!
Stay strong and focused!
Sue xx
I'm with you with a cuppa, JD, just one coffee around 11 am, the rest tea....maybe have an evening orange & passionfruit J02, delicious! A good idea to go with the last difficult run before tackling a harder one! Although we're all a darned sight healthier now we still have to get back to full stamina.
Sue x
Hi Chris and VERY well done indeed!!! Try to get something to keep your hands occupied, even keys is better than empty hands, especially after all these years! Focus hard on an old hobby - or start a new one; it's so well worth it.
BTW, if you've been for 6 months twice before then something you need to remember is "NEVER, ever risk 'just one puff or cig' because it'll only lead you straight back to the awful habit again!!!Keep clean, keep healthy and STAY ALIVE!!!!!!!
Have a really lovely weekend everyone - fag-free of course!

Hi all, I'd really love to join you! Actually, make that, I really NEED to join you! I'm brand new to the site and am stopping smoking tomorrow. I have various reasons, my primary one being that I am 6 months pregnant and I absolutely cannot subject my unborn baby to my habit any more. I know it's awful that I have smoked so long into my pregnancy and my pitiful excuses always come down to work and money related stress. Well, I left work yesterday so that is a moot-point and quitting the fags will reduce the money worries anyway!
My name is Sam, I'm 25, mum to 3 year old Amelie and a baby boy due in December. I am engaged to my partner Chris. I am an Operations Manager for a security company but, as above, I won't be returning for at least 9 months now - yippee!!
Any words of encouragement? I have tried and failed to give up so many times in the past and I am determined that I now give up for good for my family's sake
Thank you for having me!

Hi Sam and welcome.
Congratulations on making the first step. Today should be your first day as a non-smoker and you will feel great very soon :T
Sue will be along soon and give you some fantastic advice which really helped me and all the others along. In the meantime stay strong and try and book an appointment with the smoking cessation nurse (CN).
Have a read of some of the last threads to keep you going and they will inspire you no end. I know they did me as everyone has the same up, down and in-between days :rotfl:
Take care and congratulations for the baby and your smoke-free decision xxxx0 -
Morning everyone and welcome Sam! Lovely to have another freedom fighter on board - or two even! You can totally do this just take it one step at a time. Like Fergie said Sue will send you an email with some tips to help with the initial cravings. The weekend is a good time as, hopefully, people will be around to give you some moral support when the cravings come. Just ride them out, each one only lasts a few minutes and then passes. I find after the first couple of days things get much easier.
Oh and a huge congratulations on your lovely bundle of joy to be! :j
Morning Fergie  you were up early
awww Sue so sorry to hear that things have got worse for you yesterday, really hoping that the change of meds will bring you some comfort today. I'm sure your lovely dh is taking good care of you but hope you are well on the road to recovery by the time you read this x
Chris excellent news re 2 days and now 3 and also sorting out the finances! :money: try to keep busy on the first few days though, you know the saying about the devil (i.e. nic ) and idle hands!
erm its really hard for me to describe the feeling I'm talking about as its a mixture of things and then when I think "oh its that" when I think about it it isn't quite so if you get me? So its a mixture of feeling a little tight around the chest, and I keep taking deep breaths, mixed with something close to heartburn and also the feeling that something isn't quite right/there/is missing. Its no big deal just something that 'm slightly aware of.
Having said all of that it doesn't detract from how fantastic it feels not to smoke or spend my hard earned cash on such a pointless pass time :T
Hope you all have a lovely day and weekend! xDF as at 30/12/16

Thank you very much for the warm welcome! So far so good - I actually crushed up a packet with my last 2 cigarettes before bed last night - I felt so proud of myself, as did my OH. He has stopped with me but he is nowhere near as addicted as I am and seems to be able to take it or leave it (don't ya just hate him??!! Haha). I have an app on my phone that tells me that, without doing anything, we have both saved over £3.00 this morning - that's not something that can be ignored!
