  • good afternoon

Wow hannah 4 days already notched under your belt thats amazing you should be well pleased with yourself and begining to feel the benefits physically AND financially :j:j Keep on doing what you are doing

though it can be tough in those early days ( and i was a bit of a serial quitter :o) the hardest bit is biting the bullet and decideing when to quit and doing it

it truly does get easier and you will be empowered and stronger for being the one in control , just try and away from those triggers and smoking associations if you possibly can and make it easier on you

little things like switching to juice instead of tea in the mornings
chewing gum before you start a car journey ..Me I wore long mittens when walking the dog ( it was winter time and i didnt want to take off me cosy mittens to smoke a foul fag :D )

hello mum2amelie stay strong and focused ( though hard not to carrying your wee bundle ) you will be setting such an example to your growing family and be better off in so many ways remember to have a treat with money NOT spent on fags :j:j

Good to see you too determined you sound firmly in the driving seat Thats the spirit ... you are doing fantastically well and sounding so possitive its great to read :D
you too fergi42 , two weeks plus under your belt ....you will be feeling so much better and hopefully begining to think less about them and losing that association and routine that fags took up in your life

fab post to read kiwi and ace to see you have reinvested that not spent cash on something so important to you , what a boost:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

If i can just echo what sue has mentioned , if you can put in title bar how long you have stayed quit for( and by what means ) it could help those looking in to give advice and support and thosre lurking can see that it THEY Too can join our merry band

keep up the great work everyone we'll show old nic whose boss:j:j:j:j:j

    JD xx
  • Thank you JD! Day 2 is going well - this morning was a toughie though. My oh had to endure my foul temper and with all of the hormones already flying around, I wasn't a very nice person to be with earlier! I stocked up on soft mints in town and some fresh veg - I've already gotten through 2 packs of mints and a bag of radishes!!

I know that tomorrow will be the big test with my daughter at school and oh at work - fingers crossed I can keep the good work up!

Hope you've all had good weekends :)

That's a good place to be; you're over the worst of it now and far enough along to realise that you've so much to lose by not carrying on.

Onwards and upwards my dear, Well done!

  • Hi determined I recon thats a key statement you made , NEVER to go through this again , hanging on to this thought will break that bloomin stop start cycle , initially it can be hard work so why put ourselves through it, stop and STAY stopped , youre on a roll:T:T

Hiya mum2amelie knowing when i day may be tough is half a battle won , plan your day and keep it busy or very chillled, go swimming if you are able ( hard to think of fags in the pool ) and exercise will release thouse feel good hormones too ;)

we've all been there when seeing others stats and cant imagine being so far down the line 2 weeks may seem like a long way off but before you know it you too will be there , just take one day at a time and keep on doing what you are doing
    JD xx
  • Not been in for a while but so pleased to hear everyone so positive. Welcome to Hannah and mum2amelia. stick with it girls, it can only get easier now. Determined and Fergie, you are both doing brill, counting in weeks now.
I would like to report I am now forgetting 'how many days'. If asked I have to think about how long its been, the answer doesnt roll off the tongue anymore which I can only presume is a good thing.
Still having times when I just sssoooo want a smoke (usualy at work when someone winds me up lol) but keep on reminding myself that it wont make anything better and then forget about wanting one.
Have managed my first night out, at last, without a smoke too.
Have a friend who stopped smoking for a few years but has started again (gggrrrrr) now going to nag her til she stops again lol that should keep me occupied for a few more weeks

    Keep going everyone
Soooo good to hear how well its all going for all of you

  • Hi all,

Not been able to pop on lately as very busy at work. Off to a lovely 2 day conference this week. When I've been before I would always be a bit panicky about whether I could find the time between talks to pop out for a cig. Well none of that this year. I will even enjoy the evening 'do' more as I don't have to keep leaving my colleagues to go and stand in the cold.

Well done everyone on how you are doing so far.

Take care and keep strong. Sue I hope you are feeling a bit better and have found the solution now xx

  • good to hear from you fergie42

youve highlighted another reason ( reasons ) to stay quit , missing out on so much social interaction cos you are outside in the cold sheilding the fag end from the rain while you get wet

and strressing over when and where one can smoke in unfamiliar surroundings
plus having to take all the fagalia with you :eek:

YEP some things are certainly not to be missed eh :D

    enjoy your conference

keep up the super stuff you are doing it is so inspiring

    take care

    JD xx

BIG HUGS being sent your way sue hope you are feeling better soon

    xx
