    Hi everyone,

Six months of being a non smoker. :j:j:j

I've saved a whopping £1300. Maybe someone clever could come along and come up with some stats of the money we've collectively saved!

It's great to see so many others stopping smoking and supporting each other. Well done everyone.

Looking forward to the one year mile stone!

Evening girls, men too who are watching in or maybe lurking.
Firstly many congratulations to you, MotheroftheKid!!! :T:T:T:T
A whole 6 months free from smoking is terrific! Well done you! As for the collective amount saved of everyone who has quit........haven't a clue though it would be one heck of an amount!! I agree though, it would make for interesting reading......especially to the government!!! :rotfl: Nick Clegg would be singing yet another "I'm sorry" song - that they didn't get in on the act earlier and try to stop you all from taking their tax away! However, you all know better!

Don't forget to come back and update us later, MOTK. :)

It's so wonderful to see you, cheesytwist, determined, Fergie, Hannah and hopefully mum2amelie still staying strong and saying NO to cigs!!!!!! VERY GOOD NEWS, girls!!!!! :T:T:T:T:T

    Sue xxxxx

A particular well done to you, cheesytwist on being over 5 weeks FREE!!!!! :T:T:T

You really have ALL done yourselves so very proud and I'm so very proud of you all! :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart:grinheart:grinheart

Thanks so much for you helping out, Kiwi!

    Sue xx

Very many thanks to you, JD, you really are an absolute gem to everyone, to me also and I truly do appreciate your time and the real 'wanting' to help everyone! Thank You!

    Sue xxx

I'm slowly getting there thanks folks, thanks so much for your messages. I'm still much the same, but am having more tests by my GP, who is totally baffled, before he refers me to a Dermatologist. Hopefully, then I might learn more, meanwhile.....I'm itching to find out!!! :D

Keep up the brilliant work, everyone and never, ever turn back...after all.....why would you when it does absolutely nothing for you, apart from try to steal your lives and definitely steal your cash!! Always laugh in the face of nicotine - then turn your back on it.

    Evening all!

In 3 days I will have not smoked for 6 MONTHS!!! I am soooo chuffed! I actually didn't think I could do it and now I'm hitting the 6 month mark I feel like I've finally done it, I've stopped!

I've accepted the fact that there will always be a time when I could murder a fag, but I've learned how to deal with them and remember that on my wedding day next year I won't be saying my vows with ashtray breath!

My reward for 6 months without a fag.... an iPhone 5 (bought outright) arriving tomorrow :j so excitied!!
 Been smoke free for 4 years!!

    BRILLIANT NEWS
    , Sal!!!!!! :T:T:T:T

I truly thought that thoughts of your forthcoming Wedding would see you through it all so I honestly never doubted you would do it!

    What a reward too!!!! :j

The quoted bit above may be the case in the early times, but I can truly promise you that the further away from cigs you get the less times you'll have when you have fag 'thoughts' and the less those times last. They'll simply become fleeting seconds that go as quick as they come and then don't come at all!!! Time is all it needs, Sal so be patient. :)

Terrific news as almost 6 months is HUGE!

great stuff Salogo what a mile stone to be reaching you should be thrilled :T:T:T:T:T
its true the longer you have stopped the less intrusive fag thoughts get , yet i was out of my normal routine in unfamiliar surroundings yesterday when someone rolled a "rolllie" my initial reaction was Mmmm ?? as it was lit but it so very quickly passed me by ,
fleeting thought that was all , it just shows old nic still wants to tempt..NOT ON YOUR NELLIE i say :D

better get off to bed early start the morn

    Sleep tight

Hiya JD! Oh I just love that bit of wit, don't know about the consultants but I sure as he*ll know about my part. ;) Dr was absolutely shocked at all the black, blue and red all over. I'll be so interested to know just what the cause is.

  • Hi everyone  hope you're all well!

Hi hannah that's fantastic news! How is the moisturiser addiction going??? :rotfl:

Haven't been in for the last few days as not much to report really! Still going strong so not needing to be here so much. I do have this weird thing, I keep missing cigarettes :o its really hard to describe, its not like I want to actually smoke a cig and am definitely not going to go and buy any, and when I am around people smoking, or walk past people smoking I think  yuk!!!! But after events the thought pops into my head, not really sure what the thought is but its there and then I remember I don't smoke so I won't smoke and then I feel a little sad.

Not sure why this is when I am so happy to no longer smoke :j

just starting to pack now for the big move :j we have agreed a completion date of 5th October :T so excited!!! We have bought a bottle of fizz to celebrate the fact and are about to have it sans nic!

lots of soothing and non-itchy thoughts going out to you Sue x

Splendid news, Hannah! :T Keep strong and do pop back and update us now and again.

    Sue x

Look at you doing sooo very well, determined!!! :T:T Re the feelings you're still getting, I'm positive there's still a little grieving of ciggies and all that went with them going on; hardly surprising really as it's still relatively early days given all the time you've smoked.

When such thoughts come, quickly switch your mind to other more lovely thoughts, memories of wonderful events of the past or goals and dreams of the future. Regularly flashing such things straight into your mind at those times will soon help take the other ones from your mind altogether.

Lovely to hear about your new move, D! You'll then find it even easier to say tara to your old smoking life, nowt like a fresh start! Concentrate on the excitement and look ahead - won't be long now!!! :j

Thanks a lot for your thoughts for me too, I'm trying hard and don't intend letting it get me down. :)

    WELL DONE, D!!

  • Morning all,

Went to the lovely conference at Newcastle and felt great that I wasn't constantly having to look around for a quick getaway for a smoke. The evening 'do' was good and I felt sorry for those standing outside missing the band etc.

Hi Determined. I know what you mean about those feelings and I'm sure it's what Sue said about grieving the habit. I feel similar sometimes and I do believe it is that something has gone you will never do again. Like if you were told to stop driving for ever.......you would miss it regardless of whether you had somewhere to drive to or not (if any of that makes sense!!) :rotfl:

You are doing great and how exciting having the house move to look forward to.

Hope you are feeling a bit better Sue. You are so strong and brave I know you will beat the darned thing.

Good luck all and stay strong xxxx
  • Morning ladies ( and lurking fellas ....doesnt that sound dodgy ;) )
