10 weeks for my husband tonight and 10 weeks for me on Wednesday!

Husband was meant to take Champix for 12 weeks and stopped taking them after 6 weeks after they gave him dodgy guts, but he's been fine since!

Allen Carr's book did the trick for me, God knows how, but it did!

Haven't missed the stinking things one little bit, infact I only think of them now when someone mentions them to me.

And the plus side is that we have saved £700 between us. Isn't it shocking that we could have wasted that in the past doing something we didn't even enjoy. Absolutely disgusting!

Can't believe we didn't do it sooner, so for all you people in the early days of quitting, hang on in there, it is SOOOOOOOOO worth it! :)

  • Morning guys  ha ha there are so many of us breaking for freedom at the moment!

Excellent news hanah! Seems like you may have just made your own dash for freedom. I think if you don't smoke now that spaced out unable to concentrate feeling will go today! :T Let's hope you don't develop a habit for expensive moisturizer!

Shellsuit  and :T my word that is a lot of money to have in your account now! What are you planning to do? Go on holiday for me will you? We are in the process of buying a house so no more holidays for me....

Fergie can I swap my shower call for a get up call from now on? :rotfl:

Sue so glad the itch is now starting to ease. I just want to say thank you for all the moral support you give us all. It really is very kind and also, for me at least, makes all the difference :A

So am beyond happy to announce I am now into my 2nd week :j (well technically at 12.30 but who is going to quibble over a couple of hours! :rotfl: )

I haven't actually found it that hard and have been to several social things. Yesterday I went to a friend's baptism on the beach and at the end of the day a few of us were sitting around chatting and my bff's husband who was sitting next to me lit up a cig and I had to move away as it smelt awful and the smoke kept going in my mouth errrggghhh!

I am determined this time will be the very last time I quit :T

  • Hi Determined,
So pleased for you that you have cracked it this time. Told you we could do it together :). First day today that I have really thought that I am over the worst. Not had any cravings at all today and can now move forward with it feeling a little easier.
    Onwards and upwards folks xxxx

  • Morning

    Still going strong here :j 1 day 17hours and 52 mins :T

Got woken up by the kitten at 8  Good job she's cute! So been up and about since then. Been keeping busy again. I've even polished the hoover! also put all my smelly coats in the wash so they'll all me nice and fresh and smoke free. Working a 4-1 again tonight but now I know I can handle it shouldn't be too bad.

Luckly I've got loads of moisturisers hanging around from before my LBM. When they run out if i'm still at it even if I spend £30 on moisturiser a month i'd still be better off and health and smelling good instead of smokey.

Really finding the Pledge helps. It's a lot less daunting tackling it one at a time. I do have a night out tomorrow with all my smoking friends and I will be drinking........Will see how it goes and take it one at a time and keep smelling my lovely moisturised arms for will power!

Hope everyone has a good day. xx

We had booked a holiday the week we gave up, so that money we have saved has been paid off the holiday, not much more to pay off it now! :j

Definitely won't go back to it, I don't miss them, they kill us, they stink and they are a complete waste of money.

I was a total fool to have no tried to give up before!

I am still not smoking and already feeling so much better for it. I can take a deep breath and it doesnt lead to a coughing fit yippee!

Terrific news, Lolly!!!! :T I'm so delighted at your news. Keep the good breathing well, especially if it's country air, and get those lungs freshened up. One day at a time and take a look back over the page at The Quitters Pledge and let that help you through.

    Hugs, Sue xx

Very well done, Fergie, you're really doing well and helping others through too! :T:T Keep it going!

Please, please keep us updated every now and then as news like that always encourages others to keep going - and many lurkers to even take the plunge! Thanks so much, shellsuit!

Thanks a lot about the itching, determined, it's a real relief, though not entirely sure it's over yet as during the night the front of my thighs were itching a LOT! Fingers crossed though. :) Superb news at you being a WEEK and ONE day free!!!!! :T :D :T I'm so proud of you that you did the right thing and moved away from your bff's husband, let him be the only one to inhale that 'orrible, smelly smoke. :(

BTW, you're more than welcome, in fact with you, it's a pure pleasure!

!!!!! :j If I'm right, being around17.45 now that makes it around 2 whole days!!!! :T In a sense I didn't truly think it would happen this quick as I'm sure you'd originally said you'd start on the 1st October, right or was it someone else??

Oh how well you've done and I'm so delighted The Quitters Pledge helped make it easier for you, keep it in mind to help keep you strong. Great that you're cleaning everything linked with your smoking life, it helps enormously.

Keep it going! We're thinking of you.

  • Hiya all i thought i would pop by and say hello and let everyone know how i am getting on :)
I have not posted since around christmas and when i did i was only on the thread for about a month.
I stopped smoking on 6th november 2011 using champix, I forget how long i used it for but it was not the full term they suggest you use it, i had to stop as it gave me really dry skin all over my face it was all very wierd but as soon as i stopped taking them it cleared up and i have not looked back ever since and dont ever intend to again, I tried with patches before and failed so i am so glad i picked champix this time. Its wierd how it has totally changed how i feel about smoking, which after 20 years i never thought it would. I cant stand to be next to someone that smokes the smell knocks me sick.
we have so much more money now to spend doing things together as a family, dont know how long thats going to last mind as i am not 20 weeks pregnant haha, its so nice to not have anyone giving you the evil eyes because you have cut you tabs down but not fully managed to quit when you are pregnant.
I feel 90% more fitter than before and was finally beginning to think i could join a gym for the first time in my life without killing myself, i guess this will now have to wait until baby is born now.
I have put weight on, but i was only a size 8 when i stopped and its nice people are saying how well i look, they all say i was to skinny before.
Well thats enought chatter from me i will pop back when its 6th of november for my 1st year smoke free :j
good luck to all that is starting out and in the early stages,
YOU CAN DO IT KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND NEVER LOOK BACK XXX

  • Morning,

Hope your all well. 2 days 16 hours and 6 mins :j My chest is feeling a lot nicer today.

Sue me and BF chose a quit date of 1st Oct i've been cutting down and found that I was getting to panicy at work about timing of my break so I could smoke. Normally i'd pop for a fag break inbetween my real break. So I decided enought was enought. I think it was your pledge to be honest. Waitied around for a cig before starting work at 4pm sunday and thought i'd done so well waiting all day I may as well have a go at missing my one before work then so on and so forth.

Whenever I get a craving I need to remember how hard that 1st day was and remeber that if I have 1 i'll be putting myself throught that all over again.

Off drinking with friends tonight  Will let you know how it goes. Could do with the pledge being made into a screen saver for my phone :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a nice day. xxx
