Morning all!
Well the nausea seems to have subsided again thankfully. :j Although I haven't taken my tablet just yet this morning.
Still going with it. I had a dream last night that I went downstairs to our utility room (where we used to smoke) and I had a smoke in my hand and I chucked it away on the worktop and went back upstairs. My OH asked what I was doing, something like I thought you were having a smoke. And I said I've gone this long why break it! Thats my sub-consious talking I think!
Tell me off for forgetting I don't smoke anymore on the way home last night when I thought to myself, I'm nearly home then I can have a ciggy. LOL When will I remember!
OH is off on a stag weekend this weekend. Bit worried for him as when he is drunk he is anybodys so I'm sure he'll come home after smoking the whole way through the weekend! Hopefully not though, but I'm just not sure. Particularly as he has only really stopped because he feels he should, not because he wants to. But we'll see.
My other concerns was my friends OH smoking when we went to London on Friday. Not because I'd want one, but that the smell of fresh smoke makes me heave. Thats the tablet effect I think. But I've been advised that he is now smoking e-cigs instead of the real thing which is a bonus. I might try talking him into taking the tablets now he knows someone who has taken them personally.
But its important to note that I'm not going to be one of those annoying ex-smokers. Everyone makes their choices in life and if those who want to smoke smoke, then thats fine. Just not around me when I'm still on the tablets as they make me want to vomit.
Or my OH. He is not allowed for lots of other reasons!!! :rotfl:
Anyway, essay over and out!!!0 -
My OH is my problem he is a smoker and i tend to cave when i have had alcohol. The cigarette i always find the hardest is the morning one this is one of the reasons i have decided to pay off my cc initially prob take around 5yrs then will be an ISA i think. I have tried a jar but always dip into it. I thought as i am in debt seeing it go down will keep me driven.
I would love to be able someday to find time for me to exercise at present not enough hours for me in one day.
So small steps and feel this is one step closer to becoming healthy.
Hi again, shinner, and well done with keeping going! Our kiddies worry about us, that's why they nag us so much, though of course they learn so much more about it at school - yet many of them STILL start the habit up!!!!
I have to agree with Money maker, keep away from alcohol while you're at a very vulnerable stage or you'll be back to square one again!
Re the exercise: Even if you can fit 10 minute slots in to your day it is so worth it and makes us far happier people as it releases the endorphins into the brain which really do make you feel so good and makes quitting so much easier - go on, give it a try!
If your hubby smokes indoors, please, please ban him from doing so, it's vita you remain away from anything to do with smoking.
Try to alter your morning habits to make things easier for the morning, just simple alterations make it all so much easier.
I love your last line, keep remembering it!!!
Sue x
Thanks so very much for all the advice to shinner, Money maker, that was such a huge help, especially with your hubby having stopped smoking. You did so well to win him round yet without saying much at all.
Thanks again!
Sue xx
Hi there IAASA, just checking that you are taking your pills after having had food ? I'm sure you are but just thought I'd check. So pleased it's now much easier for you.
Dreams are so real, especially when we've stopped smoking.
If your DH does smoke when he's away, I'm sure like last time, you'll son reign him in once he's home! I really hope he doesn't, but men......!
VERY well done you with all you've done, hubby too!!! :T:T

Morning
Yes I'm taking it about 10 mins after food. I'm finding it varies quite alot. Sometimes I feel sick like yesterday morning, yet yesterday evening I felt absoutley fine!0 -
Good to hear, IAASA, tough I honestly thought you were anyway. However, try taking them as soon as you've had your food so they travel straight on with the food; a lot of pills are said to work better that way. Worth giving a try for sure.
So, this is Day 24 already then, what an achievement eh?!!! Stay strong and know you can carry on doing so - and never go back to your old ways - after all what would be the point!!!! :T:T
You both have a lovely Easter, hubby and you I mean.

3 Days down is GREAT news, shinner, and very well done you! Look at all the fags you haven't smoked!!! :j
You never know, your OH may be following your brilliant example so give him all the encouragement he needs from now on and he may well start to really believe that "yes, I reckon I can do this!"
We all need that starting point and this could well be his, so love, encouragement and plenty of support :kisses3: could see him STOP! Men seem to have an easier ride than us because of the lack of hormone troubles, but they also seem to be the ones easier lead than us!We'll see.
BTW, your highlighted last paragraph above should all now be in the past tense! You're at a different time now and with plenty of support, determination and willpower you can get past those tentative weeks and plough on! It may be a little hard at times, but nothing worthwhile comes easy, shinner, and you will be gaining so much!! :j Think of your health.....it's not going to hang fire for you to find the 'right' time...nor is the CC!! See, benefits all the way round IF you stay true to yourself!!
If I can do this then you most certainly can, just push all awkward times out of your mind from hereon.
Have a lovely Easter!
Sue x
Have a wonderful Easter, everyone, lets make it a smoke-free one and go on out and get yourselves some fresh air and breathe plenty of it into those lungs and help them in their healing from the years you've smoked. You're different people now with far healthier lives! :grinheart

87 days here! I can't quite believe it. I loved smoking and still miss it most days (when will that end?) and going to the pub is TORTURE but I'm not undoing my good work nowHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Hello idristhedragon and a very warm welcome to the thread. I really am delighted that you've almost given smoking the chop. Congratulations to you on having come so far and accomplished so much as 87 days free is fantastic!!!! :T:T:T
I must admit that I'm very surprised to hear you're still missing them so much! Is there a particular reason perhaps? I can understand the pub being a bit of a problem, but thank goodness they don't allow smoking inside, that's a real blessing and has given so many folk the chance to stay free of fags.
Mostly what you're experiencing is the psychological side of what remains of nicotine, quite possibly after many years of smoking. If you can bring other things into your life to do and to think about, then the thoughts will gradually fade and the amount of them will be less.
Keep as busy as you can and do things you really, really enjoy, and can focus on. The mind needs to be focused on other more pleasurable things in order to take the emphasis away from fags. How about taking up a new hobby or an old one.
As often as possible get yourself some fresh air and do brisk walking/jogging daily; that way you will get endorphins released into your brain which will help so much, honestly! It'll also help you think less about the ciggies.
Keep some slices of apple, carrot, celery, anything cold in the fridge and, when you get a 'you know what' feeling, have the cold fruit/veg. Also, keep some water on hand so that you can either sip it or have a good old swig whenever they strike, it helps by filling you a little and taking the other feeling away.
Always have something with you to 'play' with, a pen, something rubbery...anything that feels good to be fiddling with and focusing on.
Also, it might sound daft, but.....get yourself the smallest tube of toothpaste you can find and always keep that with you; whenever it's necessary squeeze a tiny bit out and pop it in your mouth so you can swirl it round and freshen your breath.
Have imaginary fags - go to the door and go through all the motions of having one. Hold your fingers as you always have done and then focus on the inhaling and exhaling just as if you had a real one, gradually feel yourself relaxing into it......but doing yourself no harm and without costing anything!!
If you're out and about, buy yourself an Ice Pop/Pole as they are so cold and refreshing and a huge help at such times - it would also pay you to have some for home for the evenings or whenever's worse. Look for them in supermarkets, they're usually above the freezer compartments and in separate boxes and you get quite a few for a small price.
If there's anything else you can think of to help yourself - then do it!! I'm here quite a lot so if you need to get your feelings out then this is the place to come!
Time and patience will see you through, idris, but meanwhile it's marvellous to hear just how committed you are to the new life you have found yourself!! You have worked so hard and deserve to be really, really proud of yourself. :grinheart
All the very, very best possible to you! Be sooooo proud!

Hello all
Still plodding on! Will be 4 weeks tomorrow, it's really flown! Wish payday would come round just as quick!
Went to London Friday. My friends OH used his e-cig ok until his battery died. He completely flipped!! Luckily (for him) we were right next to a tesco and he managed to buy a pack of ciggys. Made him stand away from me when he lit up as I didn't want to either feel sick or have temptation. But I had a good time otherwise!
OH on the other hand had one ciggy Friday night and another last night. He swears that's all and I do believe him. Gave him a bit of a hard time earlier upon his return. It wasn't as if he was offered, he asked for one each time and didn't even enjoy it! Lol
Well I'll just see how he copes now the nicotine is back into his system!
Hope everyone is ok and enjoying Easter. xx0
