Hello Sue and all
Just coming back onto MSE after a long time away and thought I would check in with you all and let you know my progressWell I'm very pleased to report that it has been over a year and a month now since I stopped smoking and I honestly couldn't feel happier
Never have I felt so happy and I'm now starting to get into fitness - something that I never thought I would hear myself say, lol! I absolutely love it when I clean my teeth and see my tongue furless and pink
I have not had one chest infection since I stopped smoking - I used to suffer constantly with them! Just breathing real fresh air, clothes and hair smelling fantastic and my risk of having lung cancer lessened dramatically is such an amazing feeling!
For all the people who have just stopped - celebrate every hour and every day because every hour and every day is an accomplishment and you won't believe how fast this year has gone. The best thing is that I absolutely know that I will never smoke a stinking fag ever again
Best wishes,
Jenny xEverything happens for a reason0 -

Long time since I've been on MSE as change of working pattern (got made redundant and now work evenings) has meant I've not been on much but was checking for some data on other things and thought I'd check in.
Now over 3 years since I gave up on 13th November, 2009. Not had a single one since then and don't have the urge at all these days.
Had a couple of near misses when out for a drink, but I barely drink now so it's not all that much of a big deal and I've resisted.Smoke free since November 2009.
Creditcard: Jan 2010 £2276.44. Less than £250 to go.

Well done shinner
Keep going - it's so worth it
Do you work in a school? I do and I would either go for a healthy walk at lunchtime or if it was cold I would just enjoy staying in the warm chatting to healthy work colleagues while the others froze in the rain and cold with their cancer sticks, lol!
I hope you are ok Sue?
Very inspiring chevettehs - I do now wonder to myself why I didn't do it earlier, lol?!! It feels blinkin fantastic

Hello. Hope I can join this thread. I am on my last packet of ciggies which I bought last Thursday. I have only had one ciggie today.
What has helped is an e-cig. Not ideal but years and years of trying and failing I realise that I am a total addict and I needed a substitute that wasn't costing me the earth.
I am not giving up for health reasons but for financial. I have saved a lot of money in the last two or three weeks by cutting down gradually even factoring in the cost of the ecig.
Yesterday I had 2 cigs, today 1. By the end of this week I aim to be real cig free.
Wish me luck.

Hi Jenny, it's marvellous to have you back to update us and being so radiant.....all due to QUITTING THE FAGS!!!!!Very many congratulations on having been away from smoking for over 13 months!!!!! :T:j:j:j:T
Actually the words 1 year and 1 month sound so much more of an accomplishment somehow, but however you word it, Jenny, you've done brilliantly and I'm so terribly proud of you!! To hear you're so well into exercise as well is wonderful!
I honestly believe smoking makes us far more inclined to be a little lazy as we were more content to sit with a fag....in the old days! No more though, you're now free to LIVE your life.GREAT news about the chest infections - me too and that's about the very best as they frightened me terribly.
Keep coming back to update us to spur others on too. I'm slowly improving after a really nasty muscle spasm in my lower back, it's been wicked. It happens now and then, but I worsened the whole thing on Sunday and it's been agony since! Not to worry, it'll soon be better...I hope! I just had to come on here today though after seeing an alert with your name on - I guessed!
Thanks so very much,

It's fab Sue
still have the odd urge but nowhere near as often and fairly easily dismissed!
I can even stand beside smokers (I do miss the gossip that we used to have outside) and not want one at all!
The ones that were really hard - out walking the dog etc ... honestly never think about them at all now!
Keep it up everyone :TGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Wow 42 days!!! I had to come here to find my last post and work out how many days it had been as I had forgotten again!!!
I was on annual leave from work last week so it was a little difficult as I could always smoke when I wanted to when I wasn't at work.
The cravings and that feeling in the stomach is still there a little bit but its getting easier to ignore. ish.
I haven't smoked at all anyway and don't want to. Its just my mind really.0
