Well done sb88!
My veg box came yesterday but I was out for a 30th birthday meal, so put it away but that was it.
Tonight I had to fight myself not to buy a pizza or similar, as couldn't be bothered... however instead I did onion, pointed cabbage, yellow pepper and a few mushrooms, all diced up and sauteed in stir fry oil (worth it!), then used the last of a soy, ginger and garlic marinade as a sauce, added liberal amounts of sesame seeds, boiled some spaghetti and mixed it all together! Yummy! There was enough for tea tonight and lunch tomorrow. :T I'm out late tomorrow afternoon at a big BBQ my boss is hosting, so don't have to worry about tea!

I know exactly how you feel. I've been trying to defrost the freezer for a few months now! Have done meal plan which will use all of the erm, shall we say, "virgin" ingredients that are in there. OH and I had a chat last night about using the UFOs that are lurking. We agreed that most of them ended up as frozen leftovers on the basis that the original meal wasn't that good (because otherwise OH would have had 2nds! :rotfl:) So, even though its not very OS or MSE we're gonna chuck em out and start again. With proper labelling this time
Spent just under £20 in asda today. Might need a couple more veggies next week but close to having everything I need to get to the end of the month now. Around £170 / £200 so getting quite excited about being able to chuck a bit more in the savings fund!
sb88 - well done on the job :beer:0 -

This reminded me of an Aussie contractor I used to work with - we went for lunch to the old works canteen and he had roast meat with boiled, roast and chipped potatoes. I jokingly said I wasn't sure that counted as meat and three veg and he responded (in all seriousness) that he only eat green stuff in front of his kids to set a good example. Must be ten years ago or more but it stuck with me.:rotfl:

Congrats sb88, fantastic news! Very pleased for you!
I have to nip into town today to get some caster sugar and peanut butter. Plan on baking my own biscuits from today forward as I reckon they will be cheaper to make myself than buy from the supermarket (and hopefully tastier).
I'm new to a lot of this home made cooking and baking, so I think I need to find some info on what goes into a good, well stocked storecupboard. I think this will really help to keep my spends down as well. If anyone has any suggestions or can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful
