I love shopping at A!di! Went round with a list - half of the stuff I need wasn't stocked but I ended up chucking all sorts of other stuff in the trolley instead. Mostly store cupboard items that I know I'm out of, but they don't feature on next weeks meal plan at all yet I still wanted to buy. Was dreading the tally at the check out but it was still less than £20!! OK so it was £19-something but a similar shop in one of the big 4 could have easily gone over the £40 mark.
So I'm knocking on the door of £150 / £200 for June, and still have a few more bits to get but I'm feeling really quite confident that I can make it to the 30th now.0 -
Ok. Confession time
I've just added everything up for this week and it's come to £81.76
In my defence, I've stocked up the freezer again with YS salmon and bread, so it should last a few weeks. I still have another week left of my June GC, which works out at £53 if I'm going to come in under budget, but I'm still going to tryto keep to £75 per week for July.

Hello!
Managed to make today a NSD - the official recipe I was supposed to use called for mangetout, but only half a packet so it was hurting my little head figuring out how I would incorporate the other half of the pack, the other veg in the fridge and my meat/prawns into the freezer, over the next week!
Sooo the defrosted beef (from a Mr W 3 for £10 deal) was marinated with ginger, rice wine, soy sauce, sesame oil and garlic overnight.
Tonight I cooked the rice for 10 mins. Meanwile I cooked some mushrooms, julienne carrots, a small stick of finely diced celery, green pepper with the beef for 8 mins. At the final stage I added the end of a jar of hoisin sauce (around 3 tablespoon) and cooked through for another 2 mins
Toasted some sesame seeds in a seperate pan whilst this was happening for a couple of mins, then scattered on top of the beef mixture towards the end.
Everything was in stock and apart from marinating last night (which took 10 mins), the cooking tonight was only 10 mins. Just what I need after work!
My housemate said it was one of the best Chinese meals I have made, which is a good compliment, but annoying when it's one of my 'throw together with whats in the fridge and will never remember again recipes'.
Need to get some pasta and bacon tomorrow - will use the rest of the mushrooms and spring onions with the rest of a pack of Philly which my housemate bought as a 2 for £2 offer which will never get finished otherwise.
Doing pretty well this month but I may have jinxed myself there...Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Good morning
A cheap day for me again. Sausage and bean casserole for tea when we get in. It's already made so it'll be nice and quick.
Dinner is roast turkey on whoopsied soda bread. Followed by whoopsied oranges and plums. Easy packed lunch :j
Last night I tried my juicer. It was at first VERY unsuccessful. I tried soft fruits such as orange and pomegranate seeds.
It looked like someone had been murdered. Red splashes EVERYWHERE! I juiced the other 3 pomegranates by hand over a seive. My hands are sooooo stained!!!! It was delicious though but took the best part of an hour to deseed and hand juice (by squeezing over the seive!) all those pomegranates. I got a few for 9p each reduced so thight I'd try em.
Results were gorgeous but never again!
Whilst the juicer was out I tried it on carrots n cucumbers very successfully so it redeemed itself!!!
I pulled loads of rhubarb up last night as some of the leaves were shading the strawberries. I may just have to do something with them tonight when I get in or leave em till tomorrow.
Breakfast today was porridge made with a bit of extra ginger, syrup and a few satsumas segmented as I had such a lot to use up recently. Unusual but tasty. At least my fruit bowl is now empty again until tomorrow.
Have a great day folks.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Morning all,
Hope everyone is well.
Today's technically the start of July for me. Having Mr S delivery today (with £10 off coupon) so have that and the AF order to add towards July.
Stir fry for tea tonight, got prawns defrosted from the freezer. I'm sure they were free or given by FIL, getting a basic pack of stir fry veg in my order to see what they're like and got straight to wok noodles from AF so sounding a cheapo meal
Will update my inventory of tins etc once delivery is here. I write on my fridge what tins etc I've used as I go the update the book weekly. Find it easier that way. Hoping Mr S won't be substituting items for expensive ones. Is first time I've used them so I'm a bit nervous.
Didn't order bread, got some seedy bread mix from AF and got OH to get the BM out for me last night so will give that a go today tooI hope I don't eat it all, what is it about freshly baked bread that makes it so morish? I could eat a whole loaf!
Happy Friday everyone and hope you all have a good weekend

But you've written it down on here so now have a record of it. I've stolen your recipe as it sounded so nice and have copied and pasted it to my recipes file so thank you :T.
Jumblejack - your description of using your juicer for the first time did make me :rotfl:. Hope your kitchen no longer looks like you murdered someone. At least it worked well with the veg. Reminds me of when we got married and were having family round for first meal. I used mixer for first time to whisk cream and it ended up splattered all over the kitchen 5 mins before everyone arrived . I freaked and DH had to ring family to delay their arrival so I could clean kitchen lol.

Good point - thank you and hope you like it
Spend of £3.34 in Mr S today on fusilli, bacon and ibuprofen - sounds a lot for just 3 things!Going to try the Philly pasta tonight - would normally get creme fraiche or cream for a dish like this but the Philly needs using up.
It sounds strange but I'm very content at the moment because the cupboards, fridge and freezer are so bare. All I can think of is 'great - no waste!' :rotfl:Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300
