NSD yesterday yippee!

Glad to hear your eyes are feeling better JJ, and I hope everyone else is well today.

• DebtFree 2012 - I have no idea how much we spend a month on meat between the 4 of us and have therefore decided to track it in July as I'm now curious ;). I'll report back at end of July.

A couple more minor spends on bread, milk etc. Even when we're over budget, we still have to buy essential stuff. However, with a few spends on YS goods this month, I'll still have 3 meals left for next week when we start our July budget so maybe next month we'll be under budget (you never know :rotfl:).

Thank you to those who have replied re the how much do you spend on meat a month question. I am going to work out how much we consume this month and see what that equates to. However in order to do this I have to buy some meat in so I have decided to spend £30 on meat for the month. This is from my £150 budget so will have £110 left for groceries and nappies. I do have meat in the freezer already so when I add up how much we have consumed in £'s I will equate this in.

So £30 will be on 2 gammon joints used for packed lunches (£10), £10 worth chicken breasts (I ususally get 1 for £1) and maybe some chops or something seasonal. I will keep the money spare.

I'm trying to get my freezer sorted and already have meat in gravy done, it's just I won't know what it is until it's defrosted as I am !!!! at labelling!

Breakfast this morning was from the pantry and packed lunches are made all round. Tea is from the freezer - HM lasagne and garlic bread which I put in those little foil containers.

Tomorrow is faff about friday which means the kids have what they want and we eat later. Out for a meal on Sat (I am not paying :) ) and Sun is a roast which I already have in mmmm....

True challenge starts on pay day which is Monday.

Good morning all :)

Going to roast the turkey joint that I got last night for just over a quid.
This will make a cooked roast dinner for today with a few slices left to freeze for sandwiches.
The juices in the foil container will be used to roast some potatoes for today's meal (I will parboil some spuds, rough em up a bit by shaking the pan, which makes em fluffy when roasted, then wham em in the oven in the juices)

I also have some sausages in from last nights haul that I will turn into sausage casserole for tomorrow.

Have a great day guys.

I need to update my signature later when I pull out yesterday's receipts.

Spent £2.22 today on stuff we will take to Alton Towers with us at the weekend - meant to be going, and we have Merlin passes, but we won't if it looks like it will bucket down with rain all weekend, in which case I shall have to think of some more meal ideas! I will have leftover chicken from catering today so a quick curry tonight I think, with cheapo naans from AF.

Yikes have spent over £50 in sainsburys, will check receipt soon and update sig. Grr a lot of it was for camping picnic which I've since found out has been cancelled.

It will still get eaten, but I'd rather have known beforehand.

Right, I have decided to try and join in for July, if that is ok?

Normally we spend just under £500 a month, that is 2 of us but it's everything, lunch boxes, meals, toiletries and sundries like cleaning products...

I need to try and get that down I think, starting by a minimum of £20 this July, I'll start on 1st...

Today therefore I have been sat with a note pad, pen, calculator and the Internet trying to plan all the food I need for July, including meal planning...

It seems harder in practice than it was in theory?!!

How do you guys do it?

Once I've worked out food, I can figure out sundries.....

Thanks for any advice you can offer...

Hi SusanP I just started in June, take it a week at a time and plan meals for that only,I am getting more into it now after a couple of weeks it was a bit daunting to start with.

Small spend today on a jar of coffee which I sent DH for,Mr T's own brand is what he came home with as it was a third of the price,it must be rubbing off on him ! Its only £1.75 and tastes okay.

YS pizzas and hm chips for tea tonight as I am working.
Sept GC £200
