I am a Virgin Media customer and this is my current monthly pricing situation.

    10 Meg BB - £17.50 (Half price 3 months)
TV XL - £10.25 (Half price 6 months)
    TU24 - £0 (Free for 3 months)
    Phone line rental - £0
    Sky sports - £16.50
    V+ box - £5
    V Box - £0
£7 discount for complaining about lost sky channels.

    Total: £42.25

    Questions
    Do any VM customers...
have more than 2 set top boxes?
have any special deals on Sky sports/ movies or both?
have any bigger/ better discounts on any of VM services?
  • Rang up as you advised .Got upgraded to XL TV they also upgraded my Telephone package and im still saving £10 a month on top well worth the 20 mins to speak to an Advisor.:T
  • I have the XL TV package with V+ and Broadband and it was costing me £49.00 per month. I called customer services and told them that due to a change in my circumstances I would be unable to guarantee the next direct debit which was due would be paid and would need to reduce my tv service drastically. I was immediately offered a £10 reduction on my service (which would be backdated) for exactly the same service as I am getting now.
    I accepted this offer.

The following day I called again and informed them that after reviewing my finances again, the £10 reduction would still not be able to guarantee I could pay the direct debit and was then offered another £4 off! So in the space of 2 days I have reduced my Virgin Media bill from £49.00 to £35.00.

Now £14.00 may not seem a great deal, but when they do give you the reduction, whatever the size it just goes to show that it is possible for them to offer these services at a much lower rate then they originally sign you up for.

This has left me very happy as I now know that Im not going to get a letter from Virgin telling me I owe them money!!!!

I finally got through to Virgin Media today, was on hold for over 20 mins. But I did explain the situation and was offered over £20/month discount. Permanently. The person I dealt with was polite and professional. So will see how things go. I can wait for the progams I am missing.
    Thanks for listening.

  • Just been upgraded from Starter TV package to size L - on permanent basis. We did the Telewest £30 deal, so it's about 30 more channels. Also got a month of broadband FOC, as complained had suffered outages in the last two weeks.

This thread is huge already and I don't have time to read through it all. Can I just ask what everyone is actually stating on the phone in order to get such great discounts? We have 4mb broadband, telephone, and XL package and caller display. We pay about £70+. I just wondered what I could haggle for and on what basis.

before all the news about sky & vm i was looking to go to sky anyway due to extremly poor service which resulted in very genorous discounts that where due to expire soon. at best i was getting 3 for £30 with free upgrade to 10Mb broadband and £15 off per month, at worst after i moved home NTL messed it all up and the bills went to £40 per month but with credits to compensate. I wasn't offered any descent deals at the time i phoned to cancel as it was before VM pulled the sky channels so i moved back to 3 for £30 and gave my 30 days notice. I've just got my bill and bizarly they've reapplied my discounts, stopped billing for broadband and i'm now £16 in credit!! better than before!!

Just been on to VM and spoke to a very friendly guy named Kishre. Managed to get our monthly bill from £73.25 to £53.75 on a permanent basis! That's £234pa.

I was disappointed the sky channels were removed but would never had called if it weren't for the prompt in MSE's emails!

Oh and I also got the script about VM taking Sky to court (I never paid much attention to the detail due to being impressed with the discount they offered me)!
