Only joined Virgin Media for Sky? Blag some extra channels for the loss

Trying to get thru for 5 days, eventually managed today. They didn't want to give me anything, even when I suggested that I should move over to Sky. Complained that I had been with them for years and despite agreeing with their actions felt I was the one losing out.
They eventually offered me a £10 monthly discount or upgrade to top tv package for price paying now (£47 for phone, broadband and middle tv package) which I declined as we watch too much tv anyway!!.
Felt it was very hard work..lots of silences both ways..but YES, well worth it!0 -
has anyone noticed that vm are charging for not being on direct debit? i was charged for last month and this, complained and got the bill reduced, will be ringing up about my sevice in the week .....but i am tempted by sky/bt offer for a total of £26 pm plus phone calls, thats tv, bb, t/phone and free eve/weekend calls...any thoughts on the above,,,also check your bills as these charges are there but you have not been advised, or as vn say all customers were told 3 years ago!!!!!0

Read the info on the site and rang Virgin yesterday, just asked how to cancel my TV subscription. First i was offered Freeview, as i would lose channels i declined, i was then offered my current package reduced to £31.75 from £42.25, a saving of £10.50. They also said this was not just a six month offer but would stay at this level for good. Got to be happy with that.

 Rang Virgin and got a £10 reduction per month for the next 6 months on a £25 per month package. Excellent result, thanks:j0

Well thanks a million guys...spoke to a really nice guy called david after being on hold for over 40mins
old package was
TV starter, telephone eve & weekend calls & 2mb broadband..our average bills were around £45 a month
after our long chat
TV XL package, all inclusive telephone calls daytime/evening/weekends & 4mb broadband £35 per month for life!!!
After the offer I questioned if this would be a six month thing or not, david stated that after recent chats with management they would be doing away with the offers of 6mnths etc as its causing too much confusion and would mean extra work again for virgin in 6mnths taking more calls from customers asking to leave, or people who had forgotton to call in six months receiving bigger bills etc

wife called and spoke to a decent guy. and was told because we are a good customer blah blah blah, that we can have sky sports 1 2 and 3 and all the movie channels free for 1 year!!!!

We have just changed from sky to virgin tv already had broadband and phone so were a bit miffed by losing sky 1, sky sports news etc.
After a couple of phone calls to Virgin, we now have £8 pm knocked off our bill and talk unlimited for free. Its worth phoning them, but it takes a while holding on the phone. :j :rotfl:0 -
I had a moan to Telewest about their service and their costs, the guy that I spoke to couldn’t care less so I told him to stuff it and I would go to Sky.
As I already have Sky TV it would cost an extra £ 5.00 + BT line rental £11.00 to get up to 8mg broadband & unlimited free evening & weekend phone calls. I phoned BT to change to their service. Next day Telewest phoned me saying BT had been on to them & asked why I was leaving them. I told them that I could get a better service elsewhere.
Bearing in mind that I am still only getting 4mg broadband they agreed to upgrade to 10mg for £17.50 & £10.50 for the phone with unlimited free evening & weekend calls and they won’t charge the £5.00 surcharge for not going DD.
Not a bad deal I thought and I won't have to buy another router.
Thought I would share that with you if you wanted to try it.
