was told that until we had the equipment installed we wouldn't be able to have the offer of 6 months free PLUS, if we wan't 6 months free we would lose the '4 for £40 offer that we have signed up for. Not sure where this leaves us - what to do etc. maybe downgrade to the 3 for £30 offer that is also on..... - then we won't have to sign up for a 12 month TV contract.... - is there anything else I can do?0

thank you very much for this; I called Virgin, waited ages on the phone but my standard charges went down from £29 to £19 per month. Well worth the effort! (I mentioned talk-talk with freeview and Sky)0

My husband eventually got through yesterday. We ended up getting loads of new channels all of the UKTV, extra kids channels and plus one channels that we hadn't had before as we were on a basic package. We also negotiated a £12 discount for as long as we want. So basically we have got extra channels for less than we were paying for the basic package.
Excellent!!!!0 -
After waiting an hour to get through, I spoke to a girl who would only increase my package for tv to XL. I have BB M, TV M & Talk w/e and local for £30, I also had paid for Prem Plus at the start of the season and haven't been able to get the matches the last 3 weeks. My husband has got a refund of £16 for this already and we will get a refund if we have to hit the on demand button again. I think VM have cottoned on to what's going on and have have put a clampdown on what they can or will offer. Does anyone think it will be worth it to call back in a few days to see if they will offer anything else?0

Spoke to VM this morning. After staying on the phone for 1 hour, I was able to get free Sky sports and sky movies until they resolve the problem with SKY. They also threw in £5 discount off my package. I only have tv with them but I do have 2 set top boxes. I tried to ask for the second free but not luck.
It's certainly worth seeing what you can negotiate!!:j0 -
Just phoned vm and got a lovely fella who had just started in Feb. I have the phone . tv size xl sky movies 2 1 sports1 and 2 broad band size L.
He knocked 10 quid of for the next six months 10min in waiting time on the phone.
Every little helps good luck to everyone else.

Have been a loyal customer of Virgin Media/Telewest/United Artists for last 12 years and now paying an average of over £90pm for our package of Telephone M, Broadband M and TV L with extra V box, Sky Sports and Sky Movies.
Phoned VM Customer Care yesterday (0800 0529403) to express my annoyance at loss of particularly Sky News and Sky 1 and to see what they could do to recompense me for this loss. After hanging on for 35 minutes, I finally got through to Gavin with whom I had a very pleasant conversation.
Without any pushing from me a number of options were offered:
Upgrade Telephone package but as we are low users, not much benefit.
Upgrade Broadband package but really only used for surfing and emails so faster speed again not of much benefit.
Upgrade TV package to XL for the same price as L - worth £9pm, which I accepted.
However the best bit was when I was also offered a reduction of £19pm off my fixed advance charges reducing them from £81 to £62pm!! Also these changes are NOT time dependant, they are for as long as we remain a customer. Again I accepted his offer.
Obviously I am delighted at the outcome for little effort on my part0 -

Thanks for the tip, I rang last night and managed to get straight through. I didn't push as hard as some people so just got TV upgraded to the supreme, but as we'd not long downgraded out TV to save some money I was pleased to get that back for free saving £9 a month.0

I'm normally one of those people who the Banks and utility companies love - i.e. I usually stay put and put up with whatever they charge, but thanks to this site I've now changed gas and elec supplier and now I've phoned Virgin to threaten to leave them. Spent 30 mins on phone waiting (150 so no charge), and despite the agent telling me that the Sky channels will be back on by end of March, GUARANTEED, he still offered to improve my package by providing free local and national calls and moving me to the 10mb broadband, soon to be doubled to 20mb AND reduce my package price from £73pm to £55pm. YES!0
