I was paying £23/month for:
2MB Broadband
Phone line - free week-end calls
TV XL
which I thought was a good deal.
Just called and spoke to a nice man who gave me:- free calls all day for 3 months
- additional £2/month discount forever
- itemised phone bills
Had to wait about 10 minutes (using 150 - so free call anyway) listening to music on hold...but worth it!!!http://img.moneysavingexpert.com/icons/icon7.gif

Phoned Virgin today,as NTL customer, spoke to very nice lady who has upgraded our package from basic to next one up.We are very pleased and the extra progs more than compensate for losing Sky News.I actually agree
with V for taking a stance against Sky.
One very happy first time "poster".0 -
I rang them on thursday and said I was annoyed at losing sky channels and could they maybe give me a better deal on my package. I currently get tv size L, broadband and phone from them on the 3 for £30 deal. The lady told me that my 3 for £30 offer had just run out as I had been with them for 12 months and I would now be paying £40.50 a month. She then said that she could put me back onto the 3 for £30 offer. Obviously I accepted this. She then said that if I rang back the day after and said I wanted compensation for losing sky, I would be given a free upgrade for 6 months to their top package. I did ring back the day after and surprise surprise, I was told this would not be possible. I explained that I had been told I would be upgraded the day before and why were they now going back on their word. Amazingly enough, I was told there was no record on their file of me being told this and the only way I could get the top package was to cancel the 3 for £30 deal and pay £40.50 a month instead. I said no chance and i was going to cancel and go to sky direct. They just said they would be sad to lose me and I would have to ring their customer relations department and give 30 days notice.
Apparently, if you are on the basic package you get a free 6 months upgrade to the next package up but if you are already on the next package up from basic you get absolutely nothing.
Why? Whats the difference?
I am now seriously thinking of moving to Sky and saying ballcocks to Virgin.0 -
Hi Guys
Just got off the phone to Virgin Media. Had to hold about 30 minutes but eventually spoke to a delightful lady called Diane who even called me back on my mobile because the battery on my phone was fading. Told her that I supported the stance that VM had taken in standing up to bullying SKY but that I was really disappointed at losing some channels. She was really sympathetic and reduced my monthly bill by £10 and gave me a free BB upgrade from 2 meg to 4 meg, both for as long as I stay with VM. When I mentioned that I was considering extending my TV into the conservatory I was offered a V+ box installed into my lounge for free, and my old box installed into the conservatory. Installation date April 3rd. Well worth about 40 minutes of my time!! :j
Cheers Martin£2 coins saved so far 0. really hope I get 1 tomorrow0 -
Sorry to hear that thistrucker1. I wonder if it depends on who your provider was before all this kicked off? I mean I know it's all Virgin now, but I guess some people were on different packages as the system isn't being integrated until September. I was on the 3 for £30 with Telewest, and I've just been put on a 'Essential' TVpackage rather than a 'Starter' one which I was on before for £24/month, with phone and braodband remaining the same. 30 extra channels for £6 a month less. not bad eh! (tho not as good as your deal johntiptop!). And this deal is valid forever, not just a 6 month upgrade. Maybe it's worth phoning again - it's not fair to have double standards like this between customers.0

Result!
First my partner phoned up Virgin and they did nothing. I phoned up today and with out even trying they upgraged my TV package to XL and my total monthly cost came down by £1.01. I was also offered their V+ service for £10 per month extra but with free istallation witch would save me another £75.
Everyone should phone up and as the saying goes, "if at first you don't suceed, try, try and try again", eventually you will get through to someone who will upgrade your package.0 -
Been trying to call all day but its been so busy the automated service wont put me in the queue! I don't have a landline so I'm having to call from my mobile, n on O2 0800 numbers arnt included in the free mins allowance.... so annoying!SLC: £13000+

I have:
TV Drive (V+ or whatever they call it now)
4 MB broadband
Cheapest phone package
extra large TV
Costs me £55 per month. After speaking to Virgin today and ranting about this Sky thing they reduced my package by £9 for 6 months. They said that if I had a smaller TV package they would have increased it to a larger one but since I had the largest one they gave me a discount instead. Yay!0 -
finally got through this morning Im on the 2 for 20 deal with tv and broadband...spent nearly a tenner using mobile to get through...spoke to a nice guy and he put a 20 credit on my account and also another 10 to cover the cost of the calls....now if I can only get that horrible music out of my head!0

finally got an answer after 40mins+ on hold, we used to have 10MB BB and Basic TV both for £37.01...
spoke to a lovely lady and she said we would be given the
- L package with a reduction of possibly £4 (might not show as the previous package was also a reduction)
- 1 month free (loss of service for 3 weeks in Jan when I was on Hols!)
- I had to call from my mobile so she also refunded me £6 towards the cost of the call.
I accepted!
Just taken a look on the website to see what channels I could now get on the L package and I found I had most of the channels already on the package I was on previously... only extra channels were two +1's, God Channel and Cartoon Network... so rather disappointed really
I don't fancy waiting another hour for them to answer so i'm gonna wait a while for the service to begin n then call 2moro morning if I need to.SLC: £13000+
