  • I phoned yesterday - had about a 20 min wait, but got £20 off a month and broadband upgraded to 2mb, was on 1mb. Also a new modem, which I wanted anyway cos the TV set top box way of doing broadband is pretty rubbish.
They seem to be willing to try and keep people, but I think their offers are not anything amazing as other people just joing have these deals anyway. people like me who've been with them donkeys years have been paying over the odds all that time anyway!

  • called them yesterday an got 10.75 off my bill
    but
also had alook at there web site an spotted the sim cards
10 pound per month u get the sim freefor that u get 300 tx and 300 anytime any network mins
i thought it a better deal than 02 so i got 2 one for me an one for my daughter
also as i now have extra mins on my fone im going to cut my phone tarrif down from the XL to the L so that will also save me money
Which came first the chicken or the egg....suppose it depends on which one is mispriced...i know not funny :o
  • I phoned this afternoon and spoke to Chris in retentions. I explained that I didn't want to switch but was very much missing Sky One and were there any good deals to compensate. Without any fuss he gave me a good deal.
    we had
    BB 4mg L
    phone M
    TV XL
    Price for this was £56.50

    We now have
    BB 4mg L
    Phone L
Tv XL now for £35 for life plus 2 months free movie channels.
He also said phone back when the 2 months is up and if sky one situation not resolved may be able to keep movies for free for a bit longer.

I'm very happy with that as we are downloading 24, battlestar galactica etc so money in the bank is a good option.

Hi , where are you downloading 24 from ,as I will cancel sky if i can get this season!!!
Never pass up the opportunity to take a pee!:p
  • We phoned up Virgin this morning and they hardly offered us anything to stay which quite frankly we're furious about!

We're on TV L, Phone, Internet M, and all they offered us was an upgrade to a larger Internet service for a couple of quid less every month. Not much for a household that's been a customer of Telewest for nearly 7 years is it? We tried to get a deal on the new V+ service and was told we'd have to pay an installation charge, then an additional £15 per month (which is more than Sky) and they weren't prepared to budge on that.

Personally I think they're catching on to the numbers of people trying to get a better deal. It's not gonna work though, we're now gonna ring up Sky and see what deal they can offer us to move over. We really want Sky + or V+ and we're determind to get a discount from someone. If we can get it from Sky+ and watch Lost, 24 etc it will just be a bonus. Why should we remain loyal if they won't offer us a better deal?

Best of luck to everyone else, perhaps it depends on which region you live in...?

Susiebelle, I had the same problem! I don't want to cancel my account, but phoned and told them I wanted to cancel it to see if they would give me anything extra. When I said I wanted to cancel they just said 'ok'! Like they didn't even care! So I made some excuse and got off the phone!

I spent over an hour trying to get through yesterday and as soon as I did the credit ran out on my mobile before I could give the guy my mumber to call back...today I spent another 30 minutes on the o800 number, which still costs from a mobile, finally answered, then was told Id got the wrong departement! the guy put me on the right one which told me they had exceptional queues and promptly cut me off! Now Im calling again ....hardly wanting to keep my custom...its cost me nearly £10 already and Im here to save money!
  • I’m already getting good discounts with Virgin/Telewest but still phoned and moaned about losing Sky Sports news and they revised my package, Internet Large, Sky Sports, TV, XL, Phone, they have thrown in free unlimited UK & International calls and knocked £20 off my bill as a permanent discount.
What a result :j Birmingham area

I am at work and don't have my account number or anything on me. Does anyone know if I can ring through and do this just by giving them my address etc?

I am really rubbish on the phone. I get all jittery and stutter heavily.
Is anyone willing to write me a small script so that I can stick to it and not bottle out?

I am bad enough on the phone to family and friends let alone big companies with staff that are usually rude and uncompromising.

  • Phoned Virgin Media and told them I wasn't happy and was considering switching to Sky and, without any hassle or arguement, I was given a £28 per month discount on my total Virgin bill, that's over a 40% reduction and no time limit. Brilliant! If you haven't done it yet don't wait, get on the phone now and see what you can get.
