Great tip! I called Virgin Media (the nice lady on 150 said I should call 0800 073 0591) and after listening to hold music for well over half an hour got through to a very helpful and chatty guy who explained the Sky vs. VM situation.. which I already knew but let him tell me anyway.
Anyway the package I had was £35 and had basic TV, basic phone and 2MB internet. He offered to bump my TV package to XL and lower my rental to £30 a month or bump my TV to XL, phone to free evening and weekend calls and broadband to 4MB for the same money I'm paying now. I went with his first offer so now I have a load more channels and I'm saving £5 a month. WOO!!!
It won't bring the Sky channels back but my faith in VM has definitely been restored. Hooray!0 -
After 15 mins wait and long discussion got my costs reduced by £9 a month (diff between family pack) for ever...seems fait but do think they should have a standard agreement - seems to be alot depends on who you get through to.
The whole thing is badly planned & excecuted me thinks & guy I spoke to refused to put me through to a manager & said at one point that if I didnt like it I could cancel & go to sky so I asked what kind of cust service that was!! Changed his tune and realised in the end that I had a point I think & went & consulted with boss when I said I wasnt happy with a 6m reduction unless they were bringing chanels back in 6m (not happenin!!) - they've effectovely made the decision to change contracts and I think proce reduction should be forever which is what I got in the end but now feel a bit exhausted!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hi all, just been onto VM, spoke to a tired "my head hurts" Amy, she's been handling complaints since 8.30 am, some not so pleasant. Anyhoo ... after I held for over an hour, she could only offer me £5 per month discount on the basic package. That's still £60 a year I'm saving, and will try and negotiate for more when my contract is up for renewal next month.
Be nice to the customer service people, after all it's not their fault! You catch more flies with honey than vinegar (mind you who wants more flies!)0 -
Hi
I am coming to the end of a six month discountof £10 now £20 on my TV family package with NTL, now Virgin.
What I want to know has anyone been cheeky enough to goback and ask for a further discount or extend this £20 for a further 6 months?
Cheers

I've been on a 3 for £35 package (Med Phone, Med broadband & L TV) for just under the obligatory 12mths, which was due to go up to £40.50 in a couple of weeks.
Phoned up to see what they would offer me, wasn't interested in any upgrades as I am happy with what I get now so they have reduced my monthly total to £24/mth ongoing until I change package or leave - he called it a loyalty discount.
Result - £11/mth better off straight away and potentially £16.50.
Incidently I was offered an upgrade to XL TV package with my phone and broadband for £30/mth, or keep paying £35 and get XL TV with unlimited phone calls - not worth it to me though as phone bill usually under £2/mth!
No mention of the 6 mths that lots of people have mentioned.
Be prepared for a long wait though - mine was around an hour, bloody music was driving me mad! Guy I spoke to was very charming and helpful though when I finally got through.0 -

Spoke to VM yesterday , after hanging on for an hour , customer services were very helpful. I did have Broadband 4mb , TV large and talk evening and weekends , also subscribe to Sky sports . This all cost me £ 66 , they offered to upgrade me to TV XL , Unlimited phone and the 10 mb broadband ( plus sky sports of course ) for no extra cost.0

I phoned this afternoon and spoke to Chris in retentions. I explained that I didn't want to switch but was very much missing Sky One and were there any good deals to compensate. Without any fuss he gave me a good deal.
we had
BB 4mg L
phone M
TV XL
Price for this was £56.50
We now have
BB 4mg L
Phone L
Tv XL now for £35 for life plus 2 months free movie channels.
He also said phone back when the 2 months is up and if sky one situation not resolved may be able to keep movies for free for a bit longer.
I'm very happy with that as we are downloading 24, battlestar galactica etc so money in the bank is a good option.0 -
