  • Phoned up Virgin Media - spoke to very helpful gentleman - gave me info on current situation with Sky - kindly offered me XL package, with 2mb broadband, with telephone service for £30 for as long as I remain with Virgin Media. Definite Result. Many thanks to Virgin - I'm staying a Virgin man!!! Thanks Martin!:T

    Thanks for this tip!

I was on the L (4MB) Broadband and the old Telewest 'starter' TV package. Paying £30.50 per month

I gave them a ring and said I wasn't happy, I spoke to a very nice lady who first offered me a broadband upgrade to XL (8MB) and then money off.

I asked if they could upgrade my TV subscription to XL, after a bit of messing around with codes she managed to do it.

The cost of this would have been £45.00 so they applied a perminent £10 discount off each bill which stay wirh me as long as I am a customer and an additional £5 discount which will last for 12 months.

I now have a lot more TV for the same price! Great!

    Thanks for the tip
    Si

Just phoned Virgin and they voluntarily upgraded by phone/tv/net package so I get an extra 42 tv channels, faster broadband and free weekend and evening calls to landlines! All for £35 per month instead of £62...... and the offer is for life!
    Result.

The only thing I watched on Sky One was Lost and only because it was put on there rather than C4, so I couldnt give a hoot whether I have it or not.
However I support Branson 100% for his stand against Murdoch.

I have not telephoned to complain about the loss of programmes as I got a very good deal from Virgin Media a couple of weeks earlier when I telephoned to reduce my package in order to save money.

I was disgruntled that only new customers got the 3 for £30 because I'd been a loyal customer since they started digital years ago and I was still paying them £60 a month for M phone, M bb and XL tv!! I mentioned the Sky 3 for £26 offer though. :D

He said if I upgraded I could get the new offer. I told him I didnt want to upgrade I wanted to downgrade to save myself money. Then he said if I upgraded to XL phone and downgraded to L tv I could have all 3 for £35.50 for life.
I'm now happy with that and Sky can get....Lost
I'll wait till Branson puts Lost on.
    ;) debt free...yippee
  • I called the pubic relations desk at virgin media, said that i was not happy with the sky situation and threatened to leave! ( i didn't tell them that it would cost a fortune to get connected to BT, as i have no line!), we are on The M phone package, the M broadband and XL for TV with a V plus box and an extra box in another room, cost £54 a month. I now pay £34.50 a month which is on going! I was polite with the Call centre guy, i even had a bit of a joke with him! well worth hanging on the phone for 44 minutes until the answered!

Just phoned VM dialled 150 and used leavers option. Very nice Geordie man explained what was happening. I said my family was disappointed to lose the Sky channels and asked if he could offer me a better deal.
I was on TV XL £9.00
    BB L (4mb) £25.00
    Phone/TV £22.50
    Talk Eve & W/e £5.50
    Less package discount £11.00-
Total original price £51.00 per month

He's offered me same package for £35.00 per month for life
    saving £16.00per month.

    What a result :j

When I called I was told there was no way I could cancel unless I paid £500+, as we have another 10months of the contract to run  Thank you for this, I'll be writing to them tomorrow.
Take a look at the latest notice from Virgin on the home page. There prepared to accept cancelled contracts subject to cancellation by the end of March. This gives people some good cooling off time to think about whether they do want to cancel or negotiate a better offer.;)
  • Phoned Virgin and told them I'd like them to review my account or I may well switch to Sky. Was paying £111.50 for TV package, 4mb broadband and free evening and weekend calls. Will now be paying £67 a month for the same TV package, have come down to 2mb broadband which is fine for our use and have upgraded to free calls 24/7! Had a long wait to get through to the call centre but the operative was really friendly and helpful.
