Reading through the string of notes I think most people have done well, I wasn't aware that you could get discounts even prior to the Sky 1 debacle. I reckon I have paying through the nose for years having been with Telewest etc since 1995 my current monthly basic bill is £102.00 which covers:
    XL Phone
    XL TV
    Sky Movies
    L BB
    I additional box
I can feel some negotiating coming on!!! otherwise its bye to VM

    Thanks for this.

    Just called and got

    Phone: M
    TV: XL
    Broadband: M

All for £30 including caller display & 1571.

So that's an upgrade in TV package plus an £8.50 monthly discount just for the sake of a phonecall.

If you haven't called them.....DO IT NOW!!!

Phoned up the Virgin Media 0845 and spoke to an Indian call operator. Told them I wanted to cancel my account because I lost Sky One and he said OK and transferred me to the customer services dept where I was subsequently cut off

So called back on the 0800 number and said I was wondering if I could get replacement channels as I had lost the Sky channels. He said he would see what he could do and spent about 5 minutes trying to find me a deal (as I already have Select pack for just £2 a month :p ).

Managed to get my 4Mb broadband upped to 10Mb for 12 months for an extra £2 a month :) Tho my modem still says 4Mb so far... The guy said I could download shows like 24 and Lost hehe

Definately worth giving them a call.

I just called and I got my package knocked down from £34.50 to £24 a month. That is for TV - M, Internet - M and Phone -M.

    Quite happy with that.

I've just got mine to the 3 for £30 deal - thats more tv channels and the same phone and broadband for £4.50 a month less - looking at some of the posts here others seem to have done even better than that - although I am happy with my result I may ring again and see if I can do better!
  • I got my package reduced by £5.00 with free uk anytime calls added. Not bad for a start I guess!

    Raymondo,

Call then now, even without discounts the VIP package at £85 gives you XL everything, movies, sports, V+, extra box etc etc

RTE 1 & 2 are the state broadcasting stations in the Republic of Ireland. When I went digital about 3 years ago by upgrading my NTL analogue service they told me I would have the 2 RTE stations and I've had them ever since. You could try asking Virgin if they can supply these stations if you're going to complain about loss of stations etc. They also show Premier League and Champions League matches live although they can sometimes be blocked depending on contractual rights etc. Also Simpsons Lost and many other American and British shows.
