    Once you have rebooted, having uninstalled ProSet, Windows will be managing your wireless connections so you should now be able to follow the instructions in posts # 11, 22, 24 and 30.

    update;;Hi, Just been in via safe mode, still the same;
    Security type;No authentication.(open)but drop down menu allows security options;wep wap wap2;etc. never changed anthing.
    Encryption type.;None. but again, drop down gives aes option. left none. So cannot select to use another prefered network.
    obviously still have not got admin rights to change them as intel pro;
    would changing security type do anything?
    went to aolbb when rebooted again, but it did this morning before uninstal;;

    This would not happen if you had configured your wireless connection correctly.

    Right click on your wireless network icon, View available wireless networks, Change advanced settings, Wireless networks, Highlight your own network (SSID), Properties, Connection. Check "Connect when this network is in range". Click OK, Advanced, Make sure "Access Point (Infrastructure) Networks only" is selected, and "Automatically connect to non-preferred networks" is unchecked.
    hi, toxteth, just been into this as espresso described, but it,s different;
    what I do have though is when I right click on Icon, it opens Acer eNET manager; and in general there are three ticked boxes;
    1.Launch acer eNet manager auto when stating windows
    2.Switchnetworks auto.
    3.Allow acer to connect to an open network, even if it,s unsecured???????
    Should I untick any of these?especcially 3

    First, I'm glad to see that you have not given up on this problem - you will get there in the end.

    You need to uncheck all of those boxes and allow Windows Zero Config to manage your connection.

    Well this is the first mention of Acer eNet Management in this still growing thread. My instructions way back on page one of the thread were for XP and there must be similar options in the Vista settings. I am glad to say I have totally avoided Vista - worst M$ product so far!

    I can't be that bad if it can automatically connect to a neighbours network and allow you to surf! Once you get Windows managing your connection others will be able to help you optimise your settings.
