hi john,( did this before), showing AOL connected via cable; BTFON conected wireless, unticked all boxes for connection, and also disconnected, did same with btopenzone H. but, as soon as I move my AOL up the list to number 1, the next boot up, it will be down the list, replaced by BT again, either, BTOPENZONE, or BTFON. these are the only 2 unsecured networks showing, all others, neighbours, are pw secured.see how it goes nowOpen the Network and Sharing Centre from the toolbar. You are looking for "Manage Wireless Networks".
It will show all the networks you have connected to.
When you logon it will search the list looking for the first network set to automatic. If none are found it will offer the first which is set to manual.
BTFon will show as "Connect automatically"; change to manual. Do this for all networks except your own.
Select your own network and change to automatic. Then move it to the top of the list.
Move BTFon to the bottom of the list.
The mind boggles.Hence the ethernet.cheers0 -
Bottom right. The network icon. Which operating system do you have as this will tell us where to find stuff?
Sounds as if you have found the right place, though. Double click on yours and you should get a popup.
On the Connection tab select ONLY connect automatically.
On the BTFon deselect ALL the options.
Hope that helps.0 -

Plugging ethernet cable into laptop does not disable the wireless connection - you will have two completely separate connections. How do I add a signature?0

hi figment, I know that now, always presumed it auto disconnected wifi, when plugging ether cable in, but, am I correct in assuming that, ethernet cable, connects to isp, aol, although wifi says connected to bt? when enabled.Plugging ethernet cable into laptop does not disable the wireless connection - you will have two completely separate connections.0 -
It will (should) only automatically connect to networks you have implicitly told it to. If auto-connect is not enabled for a given network it should prompt you that the network is available - you would then have to click a Connect button.
If you delete the BTFON entry from the list in 'Manage Wireless Networks' the problem should go away.
I'd be happy to connect remotely using Teamviewer and take a look for you if you wish - would probably save a lot of time. How do I add a signature?0 -

I would prefer not to use remote thanks, but appreciate your offer, if I cannot do it myself, I,ve always managed with all the help of the guys on here, they are great. and I,ve been taking thier advice for years, never failed me once:beer:0 -
That's fair enough

When you connect to a network for the first time, it will go into the Manage Wireless Networks list. Delete it from there it should not return unless you connect to the same network again.
A daft question maybe, but are you possibly confusing Available Networks and Saved Networks? Doe it definitely say you are CONNECTED to BTFON?How do I add a signature?0
