• Given that the diallers were sold with updating via CW client as part of the package, I'm amazed how accepting everyone is of Orchid's decision!

I agree totally. I'm sorry but solutions like manual programming by keying long strings and driving a dial-up modem from a spreadsheet are not 21st century solutions!

Absolutely. Orchid have been more than willing to accept the free publicity they have had on this site, more than happy to accept the free support that Ian (Heinz) has given to users, but clearly they feel no continuing obligation to their customers.

They signed up to post on the site, put up five messages in two days and then left when they didn't like the questions, in the manner of the boy taking home his football when the game was going against him.

As I have said before, CWClient is not the perfect programming tool, but it's better than nothing. However, Orchid are apparently not listening to any constructive offers that might keep CWClient available to their customers here, so we are just going to have to live without it. This isn't the package we thought we were buying, it's the package that Orchid have decided to give us now that they've got our money.

One final thought: this reseller in 'mainland Europe' who needs the CWClient server – how have their diallers been supported up until now?

I agree with the comments above. I feel ripped off by Orchid - sold a product with a management tool which has now been taken away. No apology, no alternative, just a few unhelpful posts on this thread.
• I know someone else is also playing with an excel solution, but I got carried away and had a go anyway. The result is a spreadsheet that will run through the tables of routing and carrier codes and send them to the Orchid using an attached modem - pretty much any modem should do, since all it needs to do is dial and hang up.

If anyone wants to have a look, I have uploaded it to fileqube, where I believe it will remain for 30 days - the url is [strike]http://www.fileqube.com/file/QEPgeSa169198[/strike]
:exclamatiA newer version has been posted here 31/1/2009

I am happy to receive feedback through the forum, polite please, and I will give what support I can, but don't expect commercial levels of support.

Just to be clear, I also give permission for any one to steal, mangle or molest my code, mostly thats how I got it in the first place

Kevin, I haven't had a chance to test it yet but it looks as if you have done a very good job. Well done & thanks. V
• Let me know how you get on, it seems to work OK on my machine, but you know how fickle computers can be - it would be good to get a feel for how it fares in the real world
• Quick question

i am trying this manually so be prepared.

After seeing an advert on here for an 0870 redirect number so that I can get the w/end calls inclusive to Australia I am trying the following:

Australia through 18185 on day and eve.
Austalia through 0870 number on W/end
(any @@@@@@ signs are to avoid identifying specific numbers)

Do I need to add the following to the carrier table
*#**1280#0870@@@@@@@@*6
*#**1815#0061@@@@@@@@*7

and the routing table.
*###0061#5677#20#

I would ideally like to avoid the specific entry in routing 7 to the one number but as I am using the translate rule and not the allow rule I feel I need to translate the number for day and evening or is there a code to say disregard this for the evening and weekend and find the normal rule for international dialling?

This looks brilliant,

A few points.

1)Typing in the area code displays a date and knocks off the 0 in the program code. I needed to put a ' before the input. e.g. '0208

2) Is the maximum entry into the carrier code 16 characters. I have managed to programme more successfully - I think.

3)Is there any way to stop the dialling halfway through. I thought I would press it without it connected to see if it at least acknowledged the modem and it started rattling out the full program table.

4) This is fine for the V4 but I have a DECT phone with built in dialler. The dialler has the same operation as this but how can I patch in to the dialler. I can't simply plug the modem into it. Will pressing the handset button to get an outside line and then activating the spreadsheet work? -

EDIT :doesn't work

This phone works either on cradle or off cradle but when * is pressed it seems to know not to generate tones but keep itself to itself. So entering the codes manually do not make sounds but appear on the LCD.

• Taking your points in order

1) Perhaps unsurprisingly it didn't do that on mine, until I changed the code - I need to change the formatting on it, which I will do with the next iteration, for now your solution works and I recommend it to everyone.

2) I read that it was on a thread somewhere here, earlier in this one I think that this is indeed the maximum, if anyone can give me a concrete answer I will happily change the validation

3) Errr No! Didn't cross my mind to be honest and I don't know the best way to implement it, I could give the option to pause after each code was sent - I thought that people testing would create a table with just one entry and send that. I will ponder & see if I can find a neat way of interuppting

4) Sorry, I dont think I can help - I have not seen the dect unit. my only thought is this, if there is a socket on the base to plug a wired extention in to then plugging the modem in to that may work. That is just a wild guess though.

And finally, thanks for the feedback, when I get a minute I will see if I can start on version2

0870 indirect access numbers aren't part of inclusive calls on BT.
