  • I posted an updated version of my Orchid programming spreadsheet today, with the following updates:-

    1) Corrected the formatting bug on the area code field.
    2) Added an abort button to allow long procedures to be canceled, it will complete the string currently being sent before stopping.
    3) As requested I have added the facility to dial a single entry, you now have a button that will dial whatever is in the currently active cell - so long as it consists of only dialable characters.

I can see no other features that could usefully be added, so I am not planning to add any other functionality - I will try and fix any bugs that show their head though.

I would appreciate hearing of any successes and failures to let me get an idea of whether or not it was helpful to you guys

    Cheers

Thanks Heinz. Much appreciated. I'll be resetting it shortly unless you think I shouldn't based on 18185 "To Be Invoiced" info below:-

That list shows 3 calls to 0845 numbers correctly routed via 18185's freephone gateway number and a number of other calls routed via the 18185 prefix so, despite the odd sounds, I don't think there's much point.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I wasn't clear. Let's say I dial 0845nnnnnn. I actually get through to the desired number and can hear (in this case) the "your call is important to us, please wait" etc and while I'm listening to this I hear the V4 dialing again.

The same happened to me on Wednesday evening.

It was OK half an hour ago (Saturday), but I reset the time to last Wednesday! and it did the double calling again. I'm not sure if the call goes to the same number as I expect it to though, because if I by-pass the dialler "she" doesn't say "Welcome" - When it goes wrong all I hear is "Welcome" and the 2nd dialling string cuts the line off for some reason!!
( perhaps there wasn't an 08457****** option!! on that automated system only 1 to 9 lol)

(I'm on the Heinz program with 18185 and BT Evening and Weekends.)

This problem is now resolved: see post 680 http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=18333973&postcount=680

I just did the same exercise on the other phone with another V4 dialler and it did the same thing. I'm wondering if there is a problem with the last program I downloaded from Orchid! I never got the email, but I think the system had the latest one on it, as I did ask (on here) if the email had gone out and was told yes!

I'm a bit confused now. I will try forcing home again tomorrow afternoon / evening as I haven't got time now; just thought I air my findings.

Yes, it's a bit weird. I haven't studied the spreadsheets yet to understand how it all works. I hope to find time next week as I cleared some other tasks last week!!
I don't phone many 0845 or 0870 numbers at all (so BT haven't done me any favours of late!!) so I haven't worked out how to change my program from the Heinz plan slightly - as I'm on BT Evening and Weekends and I think I should change 0845's slightly - but I'd rather understand it all first.

(I had a quick look at KevinLawry's spreadsheet and it looks like I will be able to use that and my laptop to set my sisiter's V4 in the future :T )

I got it earlier - but yes, a second ago, I got the error too.

Perhaps, Kevin has spotted an error and is changing it??
  • It's not me, fileqube must have an issue, if it persists I will find somewhere else to host it

I'd just like to say a big thank you for this file - I have just got my dialler and find your program much easier to do than via the phone. I appreciate all the time and effort you have put into it - it's great !
