I believe its a setting in the CWClient but not sure which one.....Maybe those who it currently works for can post what their setting is currently. Mine is unticked for both.

Mine (which has always done this) has the managed box ticked. I will now untick it as it will be a useless feature come next month.

The V4 dialers I have installed if set to managed will call home after disconnection from the telephone line.

De-managed it will not call home

    Manage/ de-manage commands......

    De-manage **# 0000 * 0 * 8
    Set Managed **# 0000 * 1 * 8

When I purchased my first V4 dialer back in 2004 a VERY helpful guy in Orchid, named Richard, supplied this info.

I normally leave mine set to De-managed
Thanks. Looks as if this is the solution. Yes, Richard was brilliant.

  • It occurred to me that Orchid users may benefit from the following info:

I don't recall reading any reference to this point in this thread, but as it's pretty long I may have missed it.

  • Hi been using Orchid Dialer and lurking here for quite a while, thanks to Heinz for all his work and Orchid for supporting what was obviously a non profitable sideline.I'm sure the dialler has saved me hundreds of pounds over the years I've used it and therefore wonder if the 150 users all contributed an amount to sponsor the development of a viable replacement system and we adopted an open system approach as per linux could we not be the masters of our own destiny.February will be here very shortly, we need to mobilise/organise ourselves. There are many different skillsets across the users on this board I'm sure we could do it.
We need to adopt a suitable CHEAP hardware product (pap2/spa3102/rt31p2 ?) probably use linux as an operating system (openWRT?) and all get behind it and not lose momentum by arguing for 6 months over minor details.Morgan computers have the Linksys RT31P2 for under 20 pounds Ive just noticed.
Sorry for being so pushy for a first poster.

I've manually programmed my V4 using a modem. Just create a new Dial-up Connection using the New Connection Wizard:
    ISP: Orchid V4 Setup
    Phone Number: V4 programming code
    Username/Pwd: anything you like

    Start the Dial-up connection
Using Heinz's programming codes or your own (see spreadsheet here) copy the required code and paste the code into the Dial box if different. Make sure you change the Wingdings2 * for a proper *
    Press the Dial button
Press Cancel after you've heard the codes go through

Keep your spreadsheet up to date and copy cell / paste to Dial box as required. I've removed the Wingdings2 * symbols from my spreadsheet so that I don't have to edit the code in the Dial box (less chance of making a mistake).

So , do I need to set up about 30 Dial-Up connections and make a call to each one in turn to set the orchid box up, or is there some nifty way to string some (or all) of the strings in the spreadsheet together?

They wouldn't be calls as such anyway because they are not number strings but 'programming code' strings (each starting *###) which are only intended to reach as far as the dialler (and which are meaningless on the actual telephone network anyway).

PM me an email address and I'll send you an Excel file which should help you see what I mean.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Question for Heinz,

    Hi,

Remember some months ago we figured out how to send diverts to mobiles through primus and not BT who I pay line rental to?

Well the thing is now Im not sure if BT would be cheaper as Im getting lots of 1 minute or under calls, so thought I would try BT for a month and view the bill.

My question is how do I divert to my mobile using BT as the carrier and not primus. Do I put 1280? in somewhere ?

    Thanks
On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.

BT's announcement that, w.e.f. 16-1-09, 0845 and 0870 calls will be added to the numbers to which 'inclusive' calls of up to 60 minutes each can be made by those on any of their 3 calling plans, means that, for those using the Heinz program on their Orchid, changing the weekend routing of 0845 and 0870 calls to 'CPS override' (i.e. sending them via BT) is necessary.

Accordingly, I've asked Orchid to make those 2 final changes to the program and to advise registered users by email when to force home their diallers.

Has anybody had the email yet, to force home the diallers? I haven't!

When did you get your email if you have?

    Thanks, Speedee :)
