The Post Office Homephone (not cps) includes calls to mobiles and international calls (20 main destinations) from 1800 Fridays to 0600 on Mondays.

Please could you say how you managed to get the weekend to start at 1800 on a Friday. That would be much better than the current midnight Friday night to 0600 on Monday I have managed.
  • Sure,

I went into the Routing section and called up the details of the particular dialler.

I then double clicked on the active or routing information I wanted to change.

I then went down to the same part as you did and changed the Time to 18:00:00 and changed the day to Friday I then clicked on the Update button at the top of the screen.

OK thanks, I have that sorted, and it looks like that is probably the best the software is going to allow.

Has anyone used CWclient with Kaspersky? It works on my office server but I can't get it to work on my home pc which is running Kaspersky. I have tried to configure it to allow CWclient with no luck?

I had exactly the same problem. Solved this in Kaspersky 2009 by:

    • Going to settings
    • Threats & Exclusions
    • trusted zone
    • trusted applications
    • add
    • select cwclient.exe
    • select
      • select do not scan network traffic

Have been trying to force the dialler home tonight - am now on the "Heinz plan" - have done a full reset as outlined in threads on here then dial the force home number. I get about 10 flashes of the LED, then nothing then a pause of perhaps 40-50 second then 10 flashes again and the cycle repeats about 4 times.

Threads say should flash for a minute but mine is short bursts of 10 flashes, not sure whether this is the box trying to connect and being unsuccesful?? Any easy way of checking if I've forced home?

    All help appreciated.

....just tried dialling 192, seems this should be routed elsewhere but no connection, presume this means I'm unsuccesful in forcing home. Any ideas what to do next?

You are clearly not successfully forcing home. During the (well over a minute and probably nearer 2 minute) force home call, the red LED should flash approximately once a second.

It's working this evening - I've successfully just made a force home call on mine.

You appear to have done all you can and that may mean you'll have to phone Orchid for help on Monday.

Just one final thing though - I've done this myself more than once.

Are you sure you are not pressing the * button when you should be pressing the # button as the 6th character of the sequence? Or mistakenly inserting the digit 3 as the 6th character? As I say, I've done that more than once myself (I now have the ***12#4567890*3 sequence stored on one of my DECT handsets so I can't make that mistake again). Best of luck.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Have you tried to reset the dialler. It may be confused.

    The procedures are:

    Lift Handset & dial
    **# 0000 * 01536272200 * 1
    Replace handset

    Lift Handset & dial
    **# 0000 * 1 * 8
    Replace handset

    Lift Handset & dial
    **# 0000 * 0 * *
    Replace handset

    Lift Handset & dial
    **# 0000 * 0 * 7
    Replace handset

Finally Lift Handset & dial ***12#4567890*3 (this is the 'Force Home' procedure)
    Replace handset

The red LED on the V4 should now flash for at least 60 seconds (it's usually nearer to 2 minutes). If it stops after 20 seconds or so, the Force Home has failed and try again with the last ***12#4567890*3 command again.

I was told to do this, hang up and then do it again. Sometimes it needed the second "reminder" other times it didn't.

This still didn't work for me so Orchid told me to do this http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=10285679&postcount=315

Tried all of the above. Have emailed support at orchid, hopefully they'll get back soon. Unplugged it for now, God knows where it's routing at present if at all.

My Orchid V4 died a little after a year, caused no end of problems with the BT line, and in the end I ditched the darn thing and hunted the net for ages to find an alternative. Orchid were not particularly helpful outside of guarantee, I would have expected it to work a bit longer than just a year!
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
