  • Has anyone used CWclient with Kaspersky? It works on my office server but I can't get it to work on my home pc which is running Kaspersky. I have tried to configure it to allow CWclient with no luck?

Welcome to the MSE forums harry1974.

    It's quite simply bad news.

It means that those on Sky Talk Freetime* CPS can no longer use the Heinz program with their Orchid diallers because the program's use of the 1280 prefix to send some calls via BT is now ignored by Sky (and, I believe, by Talk Talk and Tiscali too).

    * Sky Talk Freetime CPS gives free evening and weekend calls of up to 60 minutes each to UK 01, 02 and 03 numbers similarly to the 90 minute calls available on the recommended Primus Saver Option 2 CPS calls package and was, therefore, an alternative CPS calls provider which could be used with the program.

It's the No.1 item I've asked Martin to raise with Ofcom when he meets them but, at the moment, the solution is, "change your CPS calls provider from Sky Talk Freetime to Primus Saver Option 2."
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Thanks for your reply

However if I remove 1571 (dont use caller display) it will still work for 18185 which has been great since I joined. I will then only pay BT line rental?

The problem is the program's use of the 1280 prefix is not just to ensure Caller Display and/or basic 1571 remains free - it routes a number of calls via BT so as to avoid the possibility of rip-off rates (e.g. Sky can charge what they like for calls to 0843, 0844, 0871, 0872 & 0873 numbers - and we already know their excessive charges for 0845 and 0870 calls).

  • Wow, Heinz this is fantastic, I was looking to change supplier for my BT line (after receiving a Late Payment Charge), but I have found this, I have ordered by Orchid V4 box and will be looking to set it up as soon as it arrives.

I was wondering where the international calls get routed from, I will be signing up to the "Heinz Plan" but want all my international calls to go through 18185, is this possible?

Yes, the Heinz program routes all '00' calls except 00800 and 00979 via 18185 (00800 calls are routed - free - via BT and 00979 calls are barred).

Do you know if this is for all users, or just those on the Heinz program?
