  • Why do you need to change the weekend to a Friday.

Most providers do not start weekend rates until midnight on friday/ saturday.

Because mine starts it at 1800 Friday, and finishes it 0600 Monday.

Now I've told you, can you help (or are you always so inquisitive)?

I'm in the same position but, because I get free weekday evening and weekend calls from my CPS calls provider, there's no need to alter the Orchid times. The weekday evening part starts at 6pm each weekday - including Friday - and the weekend part starts at midnight Friday and, hence my calls are routed via my free calls provider from 6pm Friday to 6am Monday (calls between midnight on Sunday and 6am on Monday are covered by the weekday evenings part of the package).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Mine offers extras at the weekend (18.00 Friday to 06.00 Monday) over and above the weekday evening inclusive calls.

I can get CWClient to allow the change of the end of "weekend" from midnight Sunday to 06.00 Monday, but (so far) I can't get it to accept any change in the "start of weekend" prior to 00.01 on a Saturday.
  • Hi all, I am about to install my Orchard V4 box, I have emailed Orchard and asked to be put onto the Heinz plan, I have also called Primus and asked to be put onto their Saver 2 penny mobile plan. Please can someone help with:

    1. It takes 14 days to go onto Primus, if I sign onto the Heinz plan tomorrow, will my calls go through BT for 13 days and then automatically go through Primus?

    2. What happens if the plug is accidentally (on purpose by the young one  ) pulled out of the BT wall socket, can you just plug it back in and assume the Orchard box will still work as before?

I was merely trying to get information that would have been helpful if you provided it in the first place.

Heinz has come back with my next point.

Most people think that free weekend benefits start on Friday at 6pm but most call providers do not allow the weekend benefits to happen until midnight. Therefore it would be unadvisable to change the weekend option unless you were sure that your weekend starts at 6pm Friday.

I won't ask you who provides your calls in case it might be helpful to answer back about their procedures. You might take offense to someone seeking more information to give a full answer :p

    1. You calls will route through BT until the change over date.

    2. Although the line power (power sent through the telephone line) should keep it accurate my experience has not shown this. So if this happens. Follow the force home command that would be in the manual e-mailed to you.

    1. So, assuming you're on BT's Unlimited Weekend Plan, your weekday evening 01/02/03 calls will be charged at BT rates but your weekend ones (under 60 minutes) will be inclusive.

    2. The V4 will drop its time setting immediately it is unplugged from the BT socket and the call routings in the program which differ depending on the time/day may be routed incorrectly. Hence, if you can't hide the BT socket into which the V4 is plugged behind a cupboard or whatever so little hands can't get at it, use the force home procedure or the manual clock reset procedure as soon as possible to correct the V4's internal clock.

You seem to like to ask questions, and have no reason to take that attitude. I answered your last question, even though another might well tell you to MYOB! (And I see you didn't really answer mine at all)

If you can't help with my request for help, why do you bother to keep posting on the topic?
  • I have just got mine to accept the change to 18:00 friday but had to leave it to Sunday 23:59:59 to finish.

This would allow you to have your couple hours of Friday calls and would work if you didn't normally use the phone between 00:00 and 06:00 on Monday,.

It seems it does not like a time before it;s start time regardless of day selected. It must be a bug.

hope this helps. i didn;t mean to be cheeky when I asked you the first question, I just like to make sure I am answering the question for the benefit of the user, you wouldn;t beleive the number of people that ask about the weekend deal and don;t realise that there CPS weekend calls dont start until midnight. Your deal seems to be really good and not so common.

I am sure you didn;t mean to be abrupt and cheeky when saying "Now will you answer my question" but that is how it came across.

    Truce ???? ;)
