Just call 0800 100 100 from a land line and ask for a number. you have to listen to an advert about some weird and wonderful thing and then they give you your number. Damn site cheaper than 118 118 and 192.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. great ;-)
I'd force the dialler to ring home not to long ago.....
so should be using it then....
Many thanks 'Heinz'0 -

I have a V4 dialler using the latest Heinz program on BT 'The Unlimited Weekend Plan' with Sky Freetime.
I pay my BT bills monthly so I need to make two calls a month on BT to keep the free Caller Display. I've chosen an 0208 number to use on the weekend to make two calls to via BT. To prevent the calls going through Sky, can I use the 1280 prefix or do I need to bypass the Orchid with 1211280 ?
My second question (to Heinz) - do you plan to update the 'Program' to use BT on the weekend for 01/02/03 calls as most (all?) people now have free weekend calls with BT? This would help ensure that 2 monthly inclusive calls are made via BT. Though I can appreciate how this may not be desirable for Primus users who get 90 minute length calls compared to 60 on BT.
Thanks!0 -

Amending the program to send weekend UK 01/02/03 calls via BT was on my list of 'things to do' although I hadn't yet got around to posting the suggestion on this thread and seeking opinions (as I always try to do).
As you've made the case (for and against) so well, I think you've saved me the trouble - let's use your post as the opinion-seeker and see what responses are forthcoming.
OK 'Heinz Program' users, does anyone have any strong opinions against what Charlie12 has suggested (in red above)?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I have had mine set at that for a while now, thought I had got the info from you Heinz.
Last BT bill was OK using free weekend calls and new one will be here shortly.
So to sum up, I see no problem and as a bonus we save Primus some costs.0 -
I do have a regular call at the weekend which is usually over 60 minutes. As it is to my elderly mother I can't really interrupt her mid flow and ring back or I'd then be on for 2 hours rather than 1 and a bit...the bit being variable.
It would not be too problematic to manually dial the overide code for the orchid for one call if the general consenus was to switch the Heinz program to B.T for weekend calls.
On another note I have been dialling the odd weekend call via BT but these calls don't show up on my online account so I'm not certain they will have qualified me for free caller display until I get my bill.

Thanks for the input. I understand the reason for your reservations about the possible change to the program.
BTW, calls to 01/02/03 numbers at the weekend won't show on your BT online 'Latest Calls' unless they are over 60 minutes.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I've had an Orchid Dialler (V4 plus power supply) for a few years now, and it has worked without fault with BT Diverse 42xx and 52xx series phones. This weekend I removed these and replaced them with a 6250 answerphone, and it won't work.
When I attempt to use the phone the dialler clicks on and off about twice a second, and I get a clicking in the earpiece too. I managed to borrow a 6210 base station and the same thing happens. The older phones still work fine on it, and I used one to do a reset to make sure, but still the 62xx won't work on it.
Has anyone any ideas please?

Can you swap the phone cables over?
Some are wired US standard and not UK.The Nice Thing About Standards Is That There Are So Many To Choose From
A simple way of remembering the correct orientation for the BT plugs if you like mnemonics is Ring on the R ight. When you are holding the plug as shown in the diagram with the latch on the right the ring terminal (4 on the plug, 3 on the socket) is always just right of centre.

Just a thought.
Also do you have ADSL?
If so have you fitted the filters.0
