Mine (v4) has started to lose its settings on a regualr basis. Tried a full reset (detailed earlier on in this thread), followed by a force home, but 2 days later the settings have gone.
Spoke to Orchid (email) and they think there have been changes on the line causing voltage drops. The answer is to purchase the V4+ dialler to get the additional power supply. Well the V4 has served well for the past 4+ years, so I think I'll have to order the V4+0 -
full reset
The full re-set seems to be for clearing the routing programming, the fault my unit has is not to do with routing (although I'll try the reset when I get home).
I've investigated the fault further, and found that the unit works fine - except it cuts off all sound. No dial tone, and no sound through the handset when someone calls!
I've tried taking out the broadband filter altogether, but the fault remains.
Will try the reset, and if that doesn't work I'll contact orchid.
Thanks again!Andy

I could do with some advice:
I have an orchid dialler plugged into my phone socket, at the moment set up to Heinz's very useful (thx Heinz!) program. I use Primus for the free evening / weekend calls, and 18185 etc during the day.
However, I got a deal with Sky recently, and they have given me Sky Talk Unlimited (I think that's what it's called) free for 6 months, so I get free calls 24/7 to 01, 02 & 03.
My question is, what's the best call solution to use now (for mobiles, 0845, 0870 etc etc), and how do I set it up on my dialler?
I normally just call Orchid and they set up the Heinz calls for me!
Thanks!
EDIT: My sky packages kicked in the other day.0 -
Oh dear. Bad move. You're now stuck with whatever Sky wants to charge you for all your calls. You might as well sell the Orchid.
According to Ofcom, Sky can't stop you using the 1280 prefix to 'hop back onto BT' - but they are progressively doing exactly that to their CPS customers - see HERE and HERETime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Why is this? I still have my line rental through BT etc... Why is it different to Primus?
Help, I don't understand!0 -
So does this mean I cannot use 18185 etc?0

At the moment, it appears they're not barring 18185 etc. - but if they can ignore Ofcom with regard to 1280, don't be surprised if that's next.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Thanks. Well, if that happens, then I'll go back to Primus etc
Can you help me with what I need to do to set up mobiles and 08 numbers? Is it best to speak to Orchid, or is it easy to do myself?
EDIT: also, it said in the sky letter I received, that you could dial 1280 to use sky again (although maybe that was from BT?!)0 -

PM me your email address and I'll send you and Excel file of the Orchid program my daughter uses (she's been on Sky Talk Unlimited for some time).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
