I take it that there would be no difference to the operation of the dialler if you drop Primus in favour of BT other than the Penny Mobile option?
Do we need to give Primus notice in writing or is that done automatically by BT?

    Correct.

    But why bother?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Just that for months I've been sparring with BT about a mystery charge for Calling Feature Pack (1) £1.75 which I think is for Caller Display although Charges for BT Privacy At Home is 0.00.
Did get Ben onto it and his aide tried his best but for whatever reason me having a CPS provider knocked the free Caller Display out despite making the requisite calls through BT.
Just thought of dropping CPS to see if this charge disappears. No big deal either way, still saving heaps thanks to you Heinz:money:

CPS calls providers specify the default routing of your outgoing calls - so Call Waiting (incoming calls) would be unaffected.
Thanks, didn't realise that ! Would this mean that my parents could still be able to use "BT Text" for sending texts though - not that I've taught them that yet, (on their BT Relate 2100) - not registered for the service yet, still get spoken received texts only.
I assume you mean she got stung for some 09x calls as a result of a rogue dialler getting into her PC whilst she was using dial up - and she got BT to bar all 09 calls (which they do free of charge). If she still uses dial up, barring 09 calls in the Orchid program (that's one of the standard bars I recommend anyway) and using the Orchid's second socket for the PC's connection solves the problem.

Yes, that's right, but she has broadband now. I just looked at BT's website and I think they charge £1.75 a month for Call Barring now in Calling Features. I also can't see why Caller Display is £1.75 a month, but "BT Privacy at Home" is Free, but it includes Caller Display. I read a thread were someone else had a charge for this, but can't find it now to point to it! Found it - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=834787
However, now that BT offers its Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan (formerly BT Together Option 2) free if you agree to a 'renewable' 12 month contract and as that differs from Primus Saver Option 2 only in its 60 minute maximum call length (before redialling) as opposed to Primus's 90 minutes, not many people need to opt for a CPS calls provider now IMHO.

I was thinking that, but finding it hard to work out the break-point when things are cheaper! I was wondering about the Primus Mobile 2 option, if I suggested not having a CPS to family.

Not sure - but if the phone allows a 1280 prefix to be dialled, I can't see why not.

I'd cancel both those online and then dial 0800 121 8000 a few days later to activate the free version of Caller Display.

I agree Primus's Penny Mobile 2 (any call to a UK mobile for 20p for up to 20 minutes) is pretty good. The cut-off during the week is a call of less than 2 minutes using 18185 (5p connection + 12p for up to 2 minutes).

    Thanks Heinz, for the comments.

I will have to check bills for mobile past expediture - don't use them a lot, but it soon adds up! And 2 minutes soon passes by :D
So I expect a Primus CPS will be used in the end ;)

Hello chaps, can anyone tell me how/ if I can introduce a delay between the two phone numbers please?

I'm on Virgin so have to use the 08081703703 number (instead of just 18185) to get access to the 18185 service and then dial the phone number I want. Doing it sans-Orchid you need to wait a second or two before inputting the destination phone number.

I've programmed the Orchid fine but because it does the number all at once i.e. 08081703703MyMobileNumber instead of inputting a delay inbetween the two numbers it doesn't register as the correct number so I get put through to someone else

How can I set a delay in CWClient please please please?

Yes - experiment in CW Client with one of the carrier codes with # symbols after the 08081703703 part. Each # inserts a one second delay (e.g. 08081703703##### inserts 5 seconds). I find 4 seconds works well but you may find another is better for you.

Having checked, is see there are 3 options available in CW Client:

    08081703703### (3 seconds delay)
    08081703703#### (4 seconds delay)
    08081703703##### (5 seconds delay)

    Heinz,

I've posted this on the site, but i'll post it here...
found this on hotukdeals.... free directory enquiries...

Just call 0800 100 100 from a land line and ask for a number. you have to listen to an advert about some weird and wonderful thing and then they give you your number. Damn site cheaper than 118 118 and 192.

    Also states...

    'Possible 0800 100 100 Geographical Number from saynoto0870.com:

    01635 774800'
