Okay I am with you, sorry for being so thick
So what you suggest is even though I am with Sky and get free eveining and w/end calls I should route the w/ends through BT to ensure I meet the 6 per quarter?
Is this part of the Heinz method or will I need to manually programme the lot?5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)0 -

I appreciate that gives you a bit of a problem with your need to 'manage' the Orchid for your parents so can I suggest the following (it's what I do for my Mother's V4+ - which is 50 miles away):
(1). Manage your own and their V4 programming online using CW Client (you can use Routing Rules 2 & 3 exactly as BritBrat's table shows for one or both of them);
(2). Program a memory button on your parents' phone with the force home code so that, when you have made a change to the program, you just have to call them up and tell them to force a call home when you've finished your call.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. If you rename the Orchid rule before the call home to update you can then go back into the client to make sure it's picked up the new rule.
That is what I do, if you leave the name the same you cant be sure it changed.
What I do is I have two copies of the same rules with different names so if I make an error on the new one I can always revert back to the old one, then next time I update the old one to include the changes already made and any new rules, change the name of it and update.0 -
Oh how I hate VISTA, way to much security for home users.
Have you tried running it as administrator?
I think you have to right click and select "run as administrator" from my poor memory.
I have never tried the client on VISTA but other OH has a VISTA laptop so I may try it later.
Yes, tried all ways, thanks
Got this from Orchid:
"Hi Laurence,
We dont have a 64 bit version of CW Client, and unfortunately dont have any plans to make one at the moment.
With regard to Vista, again sorry we dont run it here, i know that it has installed on all the 32 bit flavours, but dont know enough about the compatibility mode first hand to offer ny advice.
Sorry we cant help any further, if you need any programming in the meantime, just let us know and we can do it for you here.
Best Regards,
Support"
I will probably install CWclient on my work laptop (XP) and run it from there.
Cheers

I tested it on a 32Bit VISTA home basic and it worked fine.0

can't force home.
It seems the 0845 number creates a "This service is not available" when starting the initial force home.
I have then followed the force home with the geog number as stated earlier in this post but the dialler still only flashes for about 20secs. According to the posts this is a fail.
The web software has a blank next to the Active routing.
Do I need to chage the DO NOT DELETE routing to read the geo number dialled in rather than the 0845 dial in number?
Or do I need to dial in on the geo number shown in the software. I don't know if this is different than the one in the earlier post.5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)0 -
If you've done the complete reset procedure (the first part of which changes the call home number to 01536 207810), and that hasn't worked, I'd suggest you call Orchid for assistance during office hours.
EDIT 18:50 - I've just successfully forced my Orchid home, so their server is working.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Have you instaled/wired it up right?
I am sure I made an error when I first got one.
Dialler Installation Diagram
I find putting the whole dialing number into the phones memory (mine is labeled Orchid) and then I just select the Orchid name and let it dial all in one go and that seems to work every time.
If you are thinking you should here a reply or something, well you don't. And I think BT do give an error message but it still works.Do I need to chage the DO NOT DELETE routing to read the geo number dialled in rather than the 0845 dial in number?
I don't think you should edit that in anyway at all.0 -
Hi, I hope you can help me save my parents some money, which, in these times would be welcome! I am thinking of getting my parents to use an Orchid dialler, but have a few queries.
When I have sorted out the best plan of action, they will be switching from BT Business, (just retired), to BT Residential and getting broadband (for the first time), but their small exchange has no other companies LLU equipment in it, so they will not get any good package deals as far as I can tell.
Before I came across Dialer's I was going to get them to use either Simply dial and/or Account Needed Providers, and sign up with someone else for broadband.
My Parents have a BT Relate 2100 phone that has 5 preset buttons and a 200 name and number phonebook programmed with nearly every number they ever dial.
Q.1 If you set up a prefix (say 18185) on a programmable button on your phone, once you have pressed this can you use the phone's "phonebook" in the normal manner?
Q.2 Ditto Q1. if you set up an ‘override providers' number on a phone preset?
Q2a. I was also going to buy them a BT Synergy 4500 cordless phone and put all their contacts in there too. Would the answers to Q1 and Q2 be the same if they used the handsets for phoning out too?
Now my Orchid dialler questions!
Q.3 How does it work with Caller Display? Their BT Relate and the Synergy cordless have the caller's number displayed on them. Will this stay the same or is there a separate unit with caller display?
Q.4 And related to above; at present Caller Display is free (part of the BT Business package), I think there is a way of getting it free with BT Residential lines, but will this work with an Orchid dialler?
Q5. From all the adverts on TV, I gather! BT have just changed their packages and the names have changed, I'm not 100% sure what to tell them to change to (old option 1 or 2) when they cancel their business line, if they are to go down the Orchid route?
Just thought of one more!
Q6. They have a few phone points round the house, a bedroom phone and a fax in an office, with caller display and phonebook. The bedroom phone is mainly used for receiving calls, so I expect that won't need a Dialler, an emergency out-call won't break the bank! The office phone doesn't get used that much now, but could it have a Orchid dialler too? What is involved with having more than one Orchid dialler?
Thank you, in advance, Speedee.0
