Your Orchid will have arrived un-programmed so, as that was your first force home, it's easy to check whether it was successful. Dial 192. As the program specifies dialling 192 causes a translation to occur, you should find yourself connected (free) with 0800 100 100 (freedirectoryenquiries.com).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I like to use the CW client and when I make changes I also rename the rule, then when I force it to update I go back into the client to check the new name is being used.0

If the red LED flashed for over a minute (probably nearer 2 minutes), it's likely to have been successful.

The voicemail says number not recognised, so i guess i will still have to do my prefix numbers from Monday (because i get free evening and weekend calls) until orchid programmes it?0 -

This seems like a perfect system and I am really wanting to buy it but I wonder if Heinz can answer a question for me:
I notice the Orchid 4 has a facility that will allow me just to dial my local numbers without the STD.
If I take the Heinz programming how will it be possible to have this active?
Your local code e.g. 0207 will not be the same as mine 01234?

When you receive your V4, it arrives un-programmed and, after you've connected it up to your line, you have to enter a code to force it to 'phone home' to Orchid's server. During that call, Orchid's server detects your CLI and extracts the 3 or 5 digits of your STD code, adds that to your program and sends it back to your V4.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. The basic set up mentions that the Force home will dial an 0845 number (tu tut tut).
Is this correct or will it dial a geo number?

If you're worried about that, you can manually change the number before the first force home:Lift Handset & dial
