I have been feeding my cat plain chicken and boiled rice for a few days now and he seems to be much better, what is the best way to introduce him to meat and dry food ? should i do it gradually?0

Great cure for the runs in animals (and humans) is dissolving cornflour in a little water. I flavour it with a sprinkle of marigold vegetable boullion for animals. If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!0

I thought it was good to feed cats dry food because it helps their teeth. Now, I'm confused.
My cat is prone to vomiting episodes and I've found that just feeding her tinned fish or plain chicken for a while seems to cure it.0 -
As I understand, dry food is good for cats' teeth, but if they don't drink enough water they can be prone to developing crystals in their urine (particularly male cats). Therefore, make sure there's plenty of water, and maybe alternate wet or dry foods, or even add a little warm water to their dry food once in a while - it forms a kind of 'gravy' that my cat seems to like! Some dry foods, like James Wellbeloved and Nutro contain cranberry extract which is supposed to prevent urinary infections. The only real nutritional advantage of wet food is the percentage of water in it, so there's no reason why you shouldn't stick with dry food as long as your cat's getting plenty to drink!2015 comp wins - £370.25

I am going to put him back on wet and dry food as from next week and hope he is better. I am def going to get him a fountain as well as he loves drinking out of the tap and is driving me potty.
In comparison to other cats i have had he seems to drink LOADS of water. Is that normal? I was worried he might have something wrong with him!0 -
If he has always drunk lots of water its unlikely to be anything serious, cats are like humans in that way, some people drink lots of water while others have just a cup of coffee a day and are still fine. If its a recent thing then maybe get it checked but it could be something really insignificant like a change in food or even sleeping in a warmer spot that makes him dehydrate quicker. You only need to worry if there is blood in the urine or he is having trouble peeing (suggests stones or crystals)0

he doesnt seem to have any problems with weeing - not that i have noticed! although he doesnt seem to go that often! although hard to tell really!! god is this what my life has come to!! talking about my cats bowel movements!! LOL
his No. 2s did seem better, although 2nite arent so good. How long do you think i should keep him on the rice and chicken? He is SOOOOOO desperate to eat something else!0 -
Keep him on it as long as it takes for his tummy to settle down. As for water then keep an eye on him but it is possible it is just because he's just a dodgy tummy - they can loose a lot of fluid that way.
My cats for some reason hate drinking water indoors out of bowls. I know they don't mind the bowls - cat milk and food is consumed without issue... but water they only drink outside... pests lolDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Yes! Have you repeated the worming? Don't use over-the-counter wormers, they're no good. And I'd skip the rice, cats can't digest carbohydrates.0
