sad... but true .
Do you know I might just do that....
Unfortunately, based on my experience and that of friends it seems a 'lot' of cleaners in the UK.
1.) Think its ok to turn up when they need the money but then not turn up if they can't be bothered.
2.) Think turning up 20 mins late and leaving 20 mins early for a 2 hour job is acceptable.
3.) Think working on their birthday is a no-go.
4.) Think they're too important to run their own business and only get £10 an hour.0 -
paulfoel "Unfortunately, it seems cleaners in the UK"!!! you are tarring all cleaners with the same brush.
When I did it my customers were sad when I left them went to uni. I was proud of my work.
and by the way you are criticising all of us it sounds as if you are someone who has a low opinion of cleaners and maybe thats why they cannot be bothered with working for you.
show some respect. Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.
Sometimes age just shows up all by itself
In the end, it's not the years in your life
that count....it's the life in your years0 -

Apologies meercatsunited. I am basing my judgement purely on the three I have experience of, and, like you say, I'm sure they;re not all like this.
However, I'm sad to say, friends have had similar experiences and it seems good cleaners are rare.
p.s. Can I employ you?0 -
;61678401]Oh well. 3rd cleaner sacked.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE LIKE THIS?
This one seemed ok to start with. Turned up on time etc. Slowly then the standard got worse and worse, then we realised she was turning up 15 mins late and leaving 15 mins early (paid for two hours). Last week we discovered she was barely staying an hour. Also, we suspected but now have evidence that she'd been nosing in personal stuff etc.
£10 an hour. Its her own business. Why on earth be like this? Really does defy belief the way some people behave.
Not always possible. LOL.
If someone was home all the time, then that person could do the cleaning and we wouldnt need a cleaner. :-)0 -

I could do my cleaning but I choose not to and have someone come in whilst I am hereDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Latest update. New cleaner lined up. Personal recommendation. Came around to see us seemed nice enough.
Today was first day. No sign of. Here we go again....
I think I'm going to advertise for Polish/Romanian/Bulgarian cleaner wanted.0 -
Right then, bets on this one? I give it 3 weeks....!
And, considering the first page, I find it ironic that I'm typing this while musing about my university dissertation. Propaganda since 1517 if anyone's interested. Like that's going to get me a job0 -

Nope. Lets just say this one no longer has a job cleaning our house. If you can;t turn up first day without at least letting someone know then thats it as far as I'm concerned.
In my profession, I can GUARANTEE that if I let a client down like this then I wouldnt be there on day 2. Fair enough things happen and there are emergencies but 99% of the time you can let someone know. Unless your dead/in hospital/unconscious I expect to be informed.
Sadly, based on past experiences, its most like forgot/can't be arsed after all/found something better to do today.0 -

Ah, right, well in that case personal pronouns might have helped me understand your post better. "No sign of." doesn't mean anything to me, but "No sign of him/her", does!0
