Woudl be great if it was just cleaners. Some days it seems like no one in Britain can be bothered to do their job properly!!!0
;discussion/3923433] and now this week says she cant make it because its her birthday and she wants to go out for the day instead.
Not being funny but I'll try that next time my client wants work done and see how long I last.
I never work on my birthday, I always book it as annual leave. I know quite a few other people who do this too. Why should a cleaner be any different?0 -

To be honest, i hate cleaning, but since my employer clearly values me i put my back into every single task. I know her standards are extremely high, so when i've finished a job and she thanks me for doing it well, i'm chuffed with myself. That sense of pride in my work is fostered by a decent wage and good working conditions. Have you tried to see things perhaps from your prospective employee's perspective ?
Its not me who decides the rate. Its all done via an agency.0 -

Like I said its all done via an agency who arrange the pay amount etc. I pay £16 for two hours a week.0 -

1. Lucky you getting annual leave. If I dont work I get zero income.
2. Some people have jobs where they don't get to decide exactly what day they have leave. They have to fit it in with their employers schedule and needs.
2. Most people give more than 12 hours notice of intent to have a holiday.0 -
Cleaner was here yesterday. Wife was at home when she turned up - 15 mins late.
Then wife unexpectedly had to go home 90 mins later - to see cleaner driving away as she pulled up outside. So turns up 15 mins late, goes 15 mins early.
Not expecting 2 hours to the second, but 30 mins short is 25% of the time. Cant imagine my client would pay me for a days consultancy if I shafted them for 2 hours+ every day?
Makes me wonder how long this has been going on when there's no-one at home? And you seriously think a person like this even deserves £8 an hour?0 -
That doesn't sound a lot to me, I bet cleaner is paid next to minimum wage and they keep £1-2 off the top
I can understand you be annoyed f they came late and went earlier, okay things happen and people are late.
Just to put things in respective my MIL mum had a agency do home help and they often arrived late and went earlier, it seems its the company at fault for not allowing enough time for each job, maybe they are same? Also maybe they dont get extra for travelling between jobs ie so much per mile

No thats what the cleaner gets. I pay the agency on top of this.0 -
I'm a School cleaner, but I can take some of your points. At times it isn't a nice job (particularly when you more work piled on you, and you have to do it in the same time). But moaning about the cleaner, when you've got them through a agency. I would be complaining through the agency if I was you.0

The cleaners who service the communal areas at our flat are conscientious, do a very good job and always seem to have a smile when I say hello.
£8 per hour would equate to £16,640 pa for 40 hours per week. Not a bad income, IMHO. Maybe OP should change the contractor or employ a cleaner direct?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
