Another vote for the mooncup, SO much more comfortable than tampons or disposable pads.. especially at the beginning/end/light flows, as you don't get the horrible dryness!0

Here's another great thread:

I'm another mooncup user - converted from the original thread on here!
The first month it took a bit of getting used to, in terms of getting it in position, but it feels much cleaner than a tampon.
Benefits:
No landfill
It forms a seal, preventing leakage - although when heavy you need to empty it often, otherwise it can overflow. I use washable pads with it on the first couple of days just in case.
On lighter days, you can leave it in all day
You can see what your body is up to
It doesn't drag half your internal skin with it when you remove it
You can wee and poo with it in, and it doesn't get contaminated
It saves pots and pots of money.
As you can tell - I'm a fan!

Can i ask, how do you wash it???0

I made washable pads from my babies old terry nappies & add to the collection everytime one of the towels befores a little worse for wear. I also soak them in a bucket (as mentioned in a previous post) & then use the water to feed the plants....I have a very healthy garden, far more salad than any one family can eat & the roses are blooming. Its not icky or yuk or dirty just natural.simplicity is key0

I agree with all those that said about the softness of washables. I love mine and have some really pretty designs. Don't forget that you can get different ones for light, medium and night time wear. I've always found them really absorbent and love the idea that I never run out as I just wash them.
