Quite fancy giving it a try. I have had that implanon in my arm, and my flow can go on for weeks now, would save me a fortune if I've got the guts to give it a go!!!0

I would like to say to anyone thinking of trying the Mooncup-DO! I have been using mine for three years now and would not dream of going back to conventional sanitary protection. Another plus point of them is (hope no-one minds me saying this) you can have sex while wearing one! They really are fantastic give them a try and persevere because they are worth it!
dont wish to sound dumb but how do you have sex with one in- please pm in case offend others by question0 -
i ordered couple reusable to try from peeweez and have it on now first time, must say is alot softer and more comfortable but was wondering what the best way of washing would be. was planning on rinsing it as soon as i take it off in cold water and then when all stain out putting in usual wash 30 degree. how does the boiling bit work i have read about seems excessive to put on a boil wash cycle on machine for just a cfew but boiling in pot is not something i fancy, also wonder how well the homemade ones were i do have old sheets but only cotton so not very absorbent and if i have to buy some terry nappies or so it cuts into the savings any suggestions gratefully received?0

well i gave it a rinse out then hand wash to get rid of all stain then put it on 30 degree machine wash but it has certainly lost the initial softness, but still more comfy than disposables, anyone around with any feedback?0

You can't... says so on their website and I have one and trust me there ain't NO chance of having sex... well not... the normal way...
As for offending... well others may be wondering toojust not comfy asking
I think I cut my thingy a bit short on the mooncup to be honest, no matter how low I pu tit in it slips into a natural place and it's juuuuuust a little out of reach. I guess my days of horseriding are coming back to haunt me again...
As for using it it's definitely more comfortable. I have very sensitive skin and wearing pads always cause a problem no matter what brand. I HATE tampons but the moon cup just fits into my lifestyle well and it has no adverse effect on my skin "down there" so very happy with mine!
Now... if I gave one to female relatives... think they'd be offended? :rotfl:DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Can I suggest using vinegar and a couple of drops of lavender essential oil instead of fabric softner... you might find the softness returns
I do this one all my towels - egyptian cotton - and they went from having turned quite hard and frankly... not nice and soft... to luxuriously soft and snuggly in a few washes... they had to get the build up of fabric conditioner off. If you have only washed once then maybe one wash will be enough?DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

not for me personally, i dont like the idea, i totally get the point and comend all moon cup fans for your forward thinking environmentalist ideals, but if it were me i would want a freshly packed on each time - not a quick rinse under the tap and back in. one question how do you store it between uses do you steralise it and keep it sterile untill next time - 21(ish) days is along time for bacteria to breed....sorryDogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

Horses for coursesI have no problem with those who don't like the thought of using them.
Personally I wash mine very carefully with as hot water as I can muster between each change during the cycle. At the end of the period I again wash it very carefully and place it in it's little bag thing. The day before my period I get it out again and get out my old saucepan that is now reserved for this use and boild up some water. The cup is then boiled for at least 5 minutes to kill off any bacteria that might have been breeding.
I used to like the "clean feel" of things straight out the wrapper too, but pads don't really work for me as I have very sensitive skin in that area. Tampons have never been very comfortable and I have ver heavy flow and often end up having to change every hour... this makes things very uncomfy with tampons. The result being that not only do I have period pain to content with, I also had intense discomfort and was incredibly miserable.
I'm not saying the mooncup is for everyone, but for me it was a fantastic solution. And you soon get the hang of keeping it clean honest
Another thing I have noticed too is that our outdoor bins smell less for obvious reasons... and with fortnightly collections that is not to be sniffed at pardon the very bad punDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I am on the Depo injection and for me it is brillant although I know others have problems
Advantages
Obviously birth control
No periods
No PMS
Don't have the cost of protection
The only down side is if you haven't finished your family it can take a year to get periods and cycles back to normal.
Some of you might want to look into it
