This thread has been a real eye opener - I had heard of mooncups and have seen them in bigger Boots stores around here.

My cycle is so strange - nothing major for months, then a flood so sudden that I needed to go to A&E to make sure that nothing more sinister was going on.
I'd much prefer to invest in some reusable sanpro - it sounds like a really good idea. I'm not sure about mooncups though- I have enough problems with tampons.

I don't think i'll be trying the mooncup anytime soon but i am thinking about re-usable sanitary towels and quite like the idea of them. Quite aside from the cost it just seems so bad for the environment.

I read about the mooncup ages ago but I did nothing about it. I think I will buy one. This thread has been really useful.

I bought a mooncup after the birth on my second. I do like it but for me it's something I'd never be able to use at work. My flow is so heavy I coudn't come out of the work toilets with blood stained fingers let alone rinsing the thing! However now I am at home it's ideal. My only problem is since having baby number 2 my flow for the first day or so is so heavy I have to change it every hour as it's full  I still have to wear sanitary protection due to this but at least I am not using as many :o
At this rate I am definately going to be anaemic!

I've found it a doddle to put in and at least I am cutting down on some landfill.

given the fact they is barely any difference in size.. if they had a size b reduced I'd get it.

I have 2.. one of each size and there is barely any difference.. in fact after having 8 children the smaller one is actually more comfortable.. but that is probably more down the the fact one is softer than the other.

The Keeper is even softer as it is latex rather than silicone.. but having a latex allergy I can't even hold one!

I wear mine at college.. under similar circumstances.. I have either a tub with a moist flannel in and wipe my hands on toilet paper then on the flannel.. OR I just wipe hands on toilet paper then wash them.

I usually need pads as well as the mooncup as well.

having read comments on this thread where people with heavy flows are saying they have to use pads as well as mooncup
i am wondering if the difference between the latex keeper and the silicone mooncup is why i have NEVER had to use any extra protection

i have a very heavy flow (according to hospital ) and my keeper has never leaked at all -- even on nights one and two when getting out of bed means that horrible gushing/flood sensation

sorry of thats tmi at tea time lol
