Decide to log on in the morning whilst i have my mug of tea - spending too long at night getting caught up on this site!
Pigpen - slow down! you're making me dizzy!! Yep I admit it - I'm only jealous!:D
Last night's grand total to date was 24 stone 9 lb. I got in the garage (somehow) and found aload of stuff stashed in there:eek: managed to free space by the door to put bags and boxes as they are sorted. Now have bags and boxes in downstairs and upstairs halls, spare room, stuff in garage, 1 bag rubbish 2 bags recycling in shed big box for school in office but it would appear absolutely no more room where the stuff was dragged fromHowever it is easier to find things where drawers/cupboards/sides have been sorted. It wouldn't be so bad but this place was stripped 2 years ago so this is only 2 years worth.
onwards!0 -
Morning all
I only got about 10 listings ready yesterday evening so I have a lot to do today if I'm going to get all 50 on by tonight. Still got to work out all the postage charges too, that's my least favourite part of the whole process.
Annie123, well done - sorting things out as and when you encounter them is a good strategy! When summer comes I'll be doing a shed clearout, it was done last year so shouldn't be too bad, but it's things like DIY leftovers, paint etc. It can probably nearly all go!
Pigpen, that is strange about the buyers if they usually pay straight away. I haven't checked the feedback of the 3 I'm waiting for, I'll do that in a minute. I'm a bit worried about one of mine because I think they got carried away with the bidding (went much higher than I expected) and they have probably "cooled off" now
Hi Spendless, warm welcome to you! Slow and steady is just as good as any other method
I will pop back later when I need a break! Have a good day everyone!0 -
 Well I've got off to a bad start. Dropped the kids at school and went straight out to find the alternative recycling centre. Found it fine, but it didn't open till 9.30. So decided to look for a paper shop so I could read local rag for 15 mins. I'm in an unfamiliar area and couldn't find one so went back and just sat in car and waited till they opened. When I got in, my boot wouldn't open.
I asked one of the men on site to have a look and he couldn't get it to open either. Result I've had to come back with all my stuff.  . DH is away till tommorrow night so he can't look at it till then. I wasn't impressed with the recycling centre either, as it just seemed to be how tips used to be, everything in landfill unlike my usual one where there are containers for scrap metal etc. if I wanted it in landfill I could put most of the stuff in my bin!

Morning all...............you are all doing so well.
Our 'junk room' is still waiting on the de-clutter list and OH posed a problem..........not sure if he's right or not.
Old paint tins..........know the sort - those that get stuck in a cupboard, paint ends up going rock hard and no use to anyone ? Well, OH reckons we can't get rid of them by sticking them in a bin bag and putting them out with normal household rubbish..............can't re-cycle them in the 'cans/paper/plastic wheelie bin.............he says the only way is to take them to the tip. Is that right ?
I haven't checked them all but I bet at least half of them are 'throw-outs' !Mary

Can I come on board as well please???? My new years resolution was to get on top of the stuff that just appears in my house-thanks in apart to OH collecting other people's rubbish and then storing it in what was a spare bedroom and now ressembles a jumble sale. We ebay to get rid of outgrown clothes and baby bits and bobs but the problem is OH then uses the money buys even more stuff we don't need :rotfl: Example he did a trip to the tip the other week with a car load in preparation for the new shed arriving-great I though there's progress-but came back with a tricycle for our youngster-great it was free but she is not yet 2 and this is suitable for a 4 year old
2008 will be the year I finally get organised!:o
:eek:Failed miserably-will try harder in 2010!:eek:0 -
Mary.. you aren't 'supposed' to put them in the wheelie bin.. BUT.. I put them in a binbag and hoik then in the middle.. the binmen aren't going to fish them out are they?! Failing that I sneak them in someone elses skip at the dead of night.
Off to upload my ebay stuff before Jb wakes up twittering for hugs again!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks pig pen...........next door neighbour is having a new kitchen and his back yard is filling up with stuff.......if he takes it to the tip on a trailer or gets a skip then problem solved. Failing that..........I'll sneak a few tins in the bin.Mary

Hello all :hello:
Can I have a moan please? I'm having an 'I hate ebay' day! Stayed in last night expecting a buyer to pick an item up when I could have gone to a freebie film.....no show...aarrgghh!! To be fair they said Wed or Thurs but promised to phone to finalise arrangements...but didn't. Why don't people do wot they say they willLooks like I will be 'confined to barracks' again tonight in the hope they come. This sale has been a nightmare from start to finish...e-cheque wouldn't clear and was cancelled so buyer said would pick up with the cash. I have the item all boxed up, (box the size you could practically live in!), in the hall as I was expecting to have to courier it and I'm black and blue from walking into the perishing thing.
Another ebay moan...I couriered some heavy, fragile items off about a week ago and the tracking shows it's been delivered but no feedback received. I'd just like to know that it's been received safely!!!! Should I email and ask? Not sure what the etiquette is on things like this.
Listed a few items of retro jewellery last night just to see how it goes. Does anyone know of a cheap source of small jiffy bags? I usually recycle old ones but am gonna need loads this time...like about 50.
Also, took a few items of crafty stuff, not worth ebaying, to the hospice charity shop yesterday. Task for today - to unearth a brand new mini-fridge that's lurking at the back of the junk cupboard to ebay. Onwards and upwards.......0 -
Cheapest place I've seen is 79p for 5 small jiffy bags at Range. Poundland also sell jiffy bags but don't know how many you get for thatWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0
