Missyg.. I have sold one of my items to my sisters bf so I'm down to 19 listings (but £40 better off!!).. scanning in books is a great idea.. I can scan the book.. do the listing.. then scan the knitting patterns I want to keep and sling back in the box.. I think they need to go.. I need liberating from the book stash!

I'm aiming for £50 this time.. I haven't much to list and most is clothing which doesn't go for a lot anyway. Last time I aimed for £100 and got £270 so I'm a really poor judge I think!

Tatty.. CAFFEINE ADDICT!!!!!!! lol.. need I say more.. plus I am a lizard.. apparently.. the sun comes out and I go.. the sun goes in and I hibernate.. I have just emerged from my chrysalis which I entered last July.. lol..

  • Several people have been discussing what to do about old photos.
There is an article in the latest Computeractive magazine No 260 on scanning old photos and slides.
Must do something about mine (why didn't I ask mum to write on the back of the very old ones who people were?)

Miro, I think Pigpen and I are both doing listings tomorrow. It's not a cheap listing day but by my reckoning, we're better off listing items that have a GOOD chance of selling before the new final value fees come in on the 20th. For "riskier" listings, maybe it's better to wait...

Ooooh thanks for that tip! Are you doing 10 day thingies? Think I'll list half and leave half...I get really panicky when loads end all at the same time...I have a fear of sending the wrong stuff to the wrong people

I'm trying to psych myself up to do a car boot or two when they start again, (Thirsk Racecourse), never done one and I'm not the most confident of people. Have starting writing myself lists of stuff that might sell, (Boots glitch-type thingies for eg)

A question for declutterers and simplifiers...!!!

12 yrs ago  I graduated with a degree in social policy / sociology... do I keep the old files / notes / essays or recycle them? The info is pretty outdated.. but ALL THAT WORK!!!!!!!

8 yrs ago   I graduated with an MSc in policy... again- should I recycle all my notes etc?

I think I know what the answer is but would appreciate some moral support!!!

Not that I get my identity from my degrees of course.... :o
  • Are you likely to EVER study these again? Will the information/data have changed?

Most likely, plus would you really like to have to plough through the lot again to try and find what is still relevant?

You've got what you needed from them (the degrees) - I'd just keep any final dissertations, in case you want to look back and say "Blooming heck, I wrote that!"

Good luck with your choice - (I think I've talked myself into doing the same thing and clearing some space in my mom's attic!!)
    I'd rather be watching CSI!

Well.. the calgon things have gone! ... they were on freecycle about 15 seconds!!

Is it worth ebaying the mothercare cheapy buggy? it is the £30 one.. with rain cover.. or shall I just freecycle it and not have the faff?

I've stuck the children broken bikes on freecycle as well.. someone might want to fix them.. or weigh them in.. I don't care I just want my house back!

I have a bag of tights to rehome too.. ARGH>>> someone make me sit still for 5 minutes!

No, you don't need them! Recycle the paper and have a good clear out. The information will be out of date by now, the notes and essays achieved what you wanted from them and their value is the qualification you gained :) I kept notes from my MSc and PhD for far too long, so I know it's hard to just let go but they have done their job. :)

Tibbie's mum - i sympathise, i'm about to have my last baby and have already promised (apart from early clothes) that all the stuff will go when he's finished using/wearing it - but i found a cute pair of size 4 shoes to ebay in the roof and i still haven't done it yet!I also have my other sons first pair ina 4 and my 1st sons in a tiny size 3, i'm just too soft lol! But i think it gets easier withthe bigger sizes as they don't look so cute on!

Have found 4 more things to ebay, not a lot i know but have made £56 so far which is double what i wanted for it all so am v happy! Trouble is have just bidded on a weightwatchers book so am getting an extra bit of clutter back in lol
