Tried freecycle and no takers so now on don'tdumpthat site..........lol
Think they're free ads in the local paper so could try that I suppose.
Starting to get despondent about my throw-outs now...............but I point blank refuse to recycle the books and someone somewhere surely wants a typewriter...................
Had totally messy day..........well, made a right mess of my desk as I've been printing out some history stuff for a friend who hasn't got computer access and beginning to wonder if I'd been better off ploughing into my 'ready to explode wardrobe'.................lolMary

It's brilliant to see so many people doing everything they can not to dump or recycle usable stuff
Especially when it must be tempting to just get it out of the way. Great work :T
After passing along even my half-used DIY odds and ends, and many other things you'd think were rubbish, I'm convinced there is a home for everything if we're prepared to spend a bit of time finding it!
Mary what about offering all the leftover stuff together as a "car boot lot" on Freecycle?0 -
missyg - just had another thought and don't know why I didn't think of it before. When I had a clear out earlier this year I gave the whole lot to ex foster girls sister (she does a lot of car boots).........so I think this lot might just be headed her way.............:j
But might wait till next week now as I've committed myself to clearing out my wardrobe upstaiirs and having announced this to OH I got to stick to it.
So annoyed with myself..........just got rid of an old wardrobe (small one) with shelves in it -perfect for shoes...........would have done for a coat/shoe cupboard when the 'building site' becomes a room. Now I might have to go out and actually 'buy' one...............Mary

I don't feel I've got rid of much just lately.. so.. I am dashing up the stairs and flinging out all the clothes that don't fit me.. or I simply don't wear.. I may then be able to fit the things I do wear in my cupboard.. more for ebay!! !!

Am feeling really good after joining this thread for motivation and having made a start on things. Haven't been able to do any de-cluttering today 'cos we both back at work but plan to clean the bathroom soon and will sort out the dreaded cabinet while in there. Will try to be ruthless

i'm starting to get really annoyed with the closes freecycle it can take over a week to get things past the moderators (i know they have lives but....) so think will go for the larger unmoderated one near here. I managed to get the bedroom looking fab, but the wardrobe still needs to be tackled as it's the biggest storage space in here. Can't decide whether to list my dvd's on ebay again or just take them to a car boot which we won't be able to do until June. I could do with the money now, but last time i barely sold any. mmmmm decisions decisions.
Won't get much decluttering done over the weekend as i'm at a crop and then going into work on sunday.0 -
Big armchair that sold on ebay has gone tonight - lounge is so big now!
My car was delivered back at last, so loan car is going in the morning (declutter of sorts - we have more cars than we need lol!)Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

In previous posts some of you have mentioned listing on Ebay and if it doesn't sell to recycle items in other ways.
On Ebay it only costs you fees to 'relist' an item if it doesn't sell the 2nd time. Do you 're-use' your unsold listings to take advantage of the 'no fees' if the 2nd item does sell?
You would obviously have to change the title, item specifics, description, postage costs etc (same as if you were doing a new listing) but you would effectively be 're-listing'.
I don't know if this is against Ebay rules (so, sorry if it is) but I know other sellers do it - I've seen it when I have been 'watching' something and it closes without selling, I then get automated emails from Ebay saying 'the item you were watching has been relisted' and it is for something totally different.
Hope that makes sense and you can take advantage of reducing your selling fees.
