Arwenelf hi there - I think you're going to get divided opinions, all I can suggest is research both options, see whether they are selling better on one than the other? (Maybe FFM or someone else can confirm if it's possible to search completed sales on Amazon like you can on ebay?)
You can't search for completed sales, but what you will see is the current asking price. It's always best to match or go above the cheapest copy, rather than undercut - you can end up in a price war with the prices spiralling downwards.
Bear in mind that just because you price a book on Amazon it may not sell for that price.
However, not all Amazon buyers check out Ebay as well, and vice versa. So, a book priced low on Ebay may be priced high on Amazon and still sell.
If listing on Amazon make sure you give a detailed description so that the buyer knows what they are getting.

Thanks missyg and ffm,
That was the problem I found with Amazon, it is difficult to know what has actually sold. Some of the prices on Amazon seem absolutely ridiculous as well!!! Being textbooks (mainly counselling and psychology) they were expensive to buy and I think I would cry if they only sold for 99p each :rotfl:Make £5 a day challenge - April

Be careful on Amazon, the P&P is set at £2.75 and Amazon only pass on £2.26 of that to you. This is great for lightweight books but no good for heavy text books.
Some of the bigger sellers can afford to list cheap because of the way they are charged for postage by the RM.

I was reading on here I think a while back about working the postage with amazon and it really confused me!!!! I think I probably will stick to ebay for the moment - better the devil you know and all that!!!Make £5 a day challenge - April

I find Amazon much easier than Ebay, if you struggle working out the postage etc, the easiest way is to go through the listing process and the last page before you finally list the item details how much you will receive from Amazon if the item sells.
It says:
Your price: £0.49 Quantity: 1 Postage charge to buyer on your behalf (if sold):
£2.75 for delivery within the UK*
Amazon.co.uk Marketplace fees (if sold):
(£0.50) for delivery within the UK* VAT on Amazon.co.uk Marketplace fees:
(£0.07) for delivery within the UK* Total you will receive (if sold): £2.67 for delivery within the UK*
Hope that helps

Most of the time it looks like a bomb has gone off in it and i cant seem to get on top of it! I keep looking at Flylady and even got the book but as of yet havnt found the time to look at it!
Im hoping to start today by doing 15 mins at a time to see how far i get.Love is all around! :rotfl:

Morning all!
What's everyone up to today? I've just had an email saying my photos I ordered last night have already been despatched! How efficient is that?!
Arwenelf, is there a college newsletter or noticeboard perhaps where you could try to match your books to people doing the same course next year? Remember with ebay you don't HAVE to start them at 99p (and it's a good idea not to if you would be disappointed to sell them at that price). Maybe wait for another 5p listing day and then put them all on as buy it now at sensible prices? You can always add "best offer" to the listing if you're willing to consider offers too. I'd try for a high (but realistic) price first because you can always relist lower
Thanks FFM for the excellent advice about Amazon as always. I think with both ebay and Amazon we obviously can't compete on price with the big sellers who get various extra discounts, so it's just up to us to work around it.
Hi Crazymom thanks for coming out of lurkdom to talk to us! You must really have your hands full with 5 children, especially with 4 of them under 5!!! I wish you luck, let us know how you get on!
OK time for me to resume the hunt for the elusive photograph...0 -

I have a fairly substantial 5 bed, 3 rec, Victorian building site of a house!! I have 8 children.. 16, 13, 12, 10, 9, 7, 5 and 3.. .. forgot my other child.. he is 34.. The 10 year old is the only one with any sense!! lol
I have decided.. if it gets in the way more than once a day it hasn't got a home so needs to go.. and it does.. the children learned quickly to move!! lol I get the camera out and they think they are going on ebay.. lol
My 7 year old is going to be sanding floorboards at the weekend after scribbling all over them with a biro..
I often feel like I am peeing in the wind.. but this morning I created an empty stacking box!!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

I sorted through my son's old artwork and schoolbooks today, nothing much to get rid of there as it's been done before - and no sign of that photograph!
I've been through both sheds today, I thought I'd find some stuff I could get rid of but I must have done a better job last year than I thought. There's precisely nothing I can chuck! There wasn't even much I could tidy, I had a rejig of the recycling arrangements and that's about it.
Will you all evict me from this thread if there's nothing more I can do0
