I know it's just more "stuff" but these childhood years are so precious, and to me it just isn't the same looking at pictures on a computer screen as it is looking through albums.
You're so right.............MIL hates it when one of her grandsons pops round with the lap top to show her some photos then off he goes and she's left with none of them. My eldest son now has a computer and everything seems to go on a disk.........suits him fine but he sends it to me and I end up printing them off myself.
You do seem to be getting organised with yours. I keep saying I'll make a start which would be easy really in a way. I've quite a few of my first son who died when he was five .........I could put them all in an album just for him. I have got a couple of really nice ones...........the others are a bit bog standard so I'm keeping my eye open for any more I see that are prettier on the eye as they're going to be sitting on an open shelf.
How on earth did you get those rooms so tidy ???? And where are all the CD's and DVD's and books ? OH sorted out some videos this afternoon, moved them to the cupboard under the tele and we're still a pile of blank ones with no home as such ! Then there's the revolving stand they were on that takes CD's as well so he's put some surplus CD's on it. Another little paint job for me as there's a lot of black ash showing (he got it for £2 from street sale)-not very good in a room full of old pine...................lol
He's got that many vynyls, tapes and CD's plus DVD's and won't part with them...............thankfully, he's not so fussy about the videos and some of them will be going somewhere...........charity shop I think.
Oh well...............tomorrow maybe I'll go a bit further and start on the kneehole of computer desk......................but whatever I do missyg my house will never look as tidy as yours..................lolMary

Thanks guys
I'm glad you feel the same Mary about the photos. I've ordered double of some of mine so that the grandparents can have some. Heartbreaking to read about your first son
My CDs are all gone, a mixture of sold and donated to charity shop. I reduced the book and DVD collection by at least three quarters in the same way. There are a few books left on two of the shelves there (and some more in my office), and a few DVDs left in the small cabinet but that's no more than 1/8th full. I want to remove that whole wooden unit and just have a low cabinet with the TV on!
It's just me and my little boy living here so keeping things tidy isn't too difficult. I wish I had a before photo of the loft though, that's where there's the most difference!0 -
oh missyg - I'd have a problem with those empty shelves..........I'd just have to fill them with something..............lol Something with me and space..........space has to have something in it..........preferably something nice to look at and arranged in a sort of organised fashion............lol
I cleared one corner of my computer room and on the top shelf in front of the photo albums is a candle like an little girl, very childlike; miniature torso sculpture, two photo pegs with photos of my Dad in them and two star wars figures (mementos from when youngest son lived at home and he used to put them wherever he thought I'd go next -bathroom, loo, anywhere....they were always there and they're sort of a reminder of him still being here even though he lived on the south coast now.
Top of cupboard underneath the shelves...........miniature chest of drawers, several notebooks with wooden covers and hand made paper -too nice to use I'd only ruin them - three paper files with stuff I need on hand.
And............vase with painting of white daisies on standing in between photos of first hubby and son who died............photo of teenage grandchildren and baby grandson plus a few stones shaped into weird faces.............it's clutter in a way but its 'organised' if you know what I mean.
Daren;t mention the rest of the room...................not yet..........lolMary
