M.E. - the old saying 'one man's junk is another mans treasure' springs to mind. When I look around at what I've got in the house and want to clear some of it I can't think anyone would possibly want to buy it, but I did.
But I think if I tried to sell it and no-one wanted it my poor little self esteem, such as it is, would hit rock bottom so I offer it on freecycle.
Having said that, I'm currentlly waiting for someone to call and collet some stuff and she''s not shown yet, despite saying she'd be here at 11am ! Maybe its just me being a bit impatient.

Haven't 'de-cluttered' for a couple of days now..........at snails pace I might just have a look under my computer desk.................but ex foster lad is coming to do some work in the garden so I might not get far..........still it'll be a start

Well, it's been two weeks since I last posted on here - I got lost in the clutter, lol ;) :rotfl:

But it was worth it - that huge pile of ironing I mentioned (and it was huge - taller than my almost-7 year old, and in a large basket at that) has now finally vacated my hallway - the kids did wonder if it had got up and walked of it's own accord, but no, hubby and I have managed to clear it properly, not only filling the wardrobes (had to buy more coathangers!) but also filling three black bags for various destinations.

His adjustable bed was collected by the Red Cross on Monday, so there's more room to move in the house from that too.

And generally we've been clearing out the junk that seems to gather every time we turn our backs on a room for 5 minutes.

Next target is the 'toy room' :D I keep putting it off  - I might post a picture - think it might just give me that final nudge - things always look worse in print/when others can see it too don't they, lol. The plan is to clear it out and turn it into a proper bedroom for the almost-7 year old as he's getting fed up sharing with his two younger brothers in a box room. It will mean loosing about half the toys, but that's no great shame and even the boys don't seem to mind the idea - will see if they stay the same when it becomes reality.

    :)

Edit - I may regret this, but, this is what happens when you leave the kids to do their own tidying for a couple of weeks -
from the hallway (there's another 2 feet of room between the bottom of the picture and the door, looking just the same) - 2008_0416AAw.jpg

And from the living room (these doors will be closed off when it's a bedroom - as it is, they are permanently open, and the toy room sort of overflows through them at every opportunity). Note the empty shelves, and the stackable boxes that are anywhere but stacked - and I can almost guarantee that when I finally reach them, all the tubs will be empty too  - 2008_0416ABw.jpg

    Wish me luck _pale_

M.E., give us a couple of examples of some things you have and I'm sure some of us will have sold similar :)

Mary, my selling rate on ebay is only just over 50% so that's a lot of stuff going unsold but the sold stuff makes up for it! I don't take it personally that nobody wants half my stuff :p, not all the time my bank balance is growing ;)

Earthmother I cannot WAIT to see the 'after' pictures from that lot! Looks like a nice Brio train table lurking under there! GOOD LUCK!

I'm still sorting out photos here. I've changed my mind again and I think I am going to order a load of prints so I can bring my son's albums up to date. So I've been sorting through the years and picking out the good ones, just got years 2006 & 2007 to go.

I know it's just more "stuff" but these childhood years are so precious, and to me it just isn't the same looking at pictures on a computer screen as it is looking through albums.

It's annoying me that I have one picture missing from the ones so far and today we had a sortout in son's room hoping to find it, but sadly no joy! Though the side effect of that is he has a lovely tidy room now!

Walked two bags of recycling to the containers in the village. Posted another ebay parcel - just two left to pay now

Neither can I :D . It is a nice brio table you spotted - and once I can clear the room enough the photograph it, I'm selling it - the boys have outgrown it in terms of the size of the layouts they now build, and it won't fit in the room once eldest's bed is there anyway.

In fact, if I play my cards right, there's probably £200-£300 of 'stuff' in there that the boys no longer use or want  ;)

I have my photo albums penciled in for over the summer - I started one for each of the elder two boys, and bought one for the youngest (just 2) but haven't done anything to them since we moved here 3.5 years a go - that's a lot of photos on the PC that should be printed out. Not quite as bad as my mum though - she's currently going through my sister's baby pictures to put an album together - my sister was 27 last month :rotfl:

Right, I have a house full of stuff (4 beds and double garage full), and have decided that enough is enough.

I am going to start getting rid - Ebay, car boots etc. with an aim to being more or less clear by the end of the year, and hopefully make some money. Anyone else up for the great 2007 clear out ?

At last..................freecycle lady came............bit late and I kept thinking of all the things I could have done while I was hanging about........still at least thats the last of Dads music gone and she's said if there's anything she doesn''t feel she can use she'll give it to the local school. Dad would have liked that.
Also got photo albums out...........well at least the family history ones and took out photos of my brother that he said he wanted..........there are more in one of the other albums but I didn't round to that. Maybe tomorrow, then I'll get them sent off to him out of the way.
OH has started clearing out his videos !!!!! Daren't look............much mutterings going on ! He did get himself one of those swivelling video stands but think he's decided he doesn't want that now and I think I heard him putting them in a cupboard but somehow I don't think there will be room. I can see 'discussions' about it going on later.....................lol

Consider me suitably mortified :o - but at least it is only toys - and the upside is that the carpet in there is usually the cleanest in the house - probably because the dirt can't get through :p :rotfl:

You're right that I'll miss all this when it's gone :( - but I'm sure with three boys there will always be a lot of mess to tidy, lol :D

Right then, 651 pics have been ordered :rotfl: Yes, yes I know it's loads, but it only came to £24.04 inc postage! Better still, I could pay from my PayPal balance so I won't even notice it!

I use 6x4 inch flip albums which hold 200 pics each, not all of the prints are for me, but it will equal about another 2.5 albums when I've done this lot which isn't bad? It will be so lovely to have them up to date :D I'm pathetically excited about it, haha!

Earthmother you definitely have a small fortune sitting there I reckon! (And you made me feel so much better about being 5 years 'behind' with my son's pictures!)
