missyg, the house looks fab. I love the photos of your son by the way!!! What a lovely looking boy!!!

Another freecycle transaction successful completed - white plastic garden table and chairs gone!

Well, offer came through from our first viewers, but its way too low, so we will sit it out and wait......

earthmother, hun, I really feel for you there! This reminds me of my house when I was growing up - my Mum was consumed with all our stuff, there was never anything where it should be and everything on the floor. We had a really big family (Dad was one of 10!) and as a result, we used to come back from Christmas parties with a black sack of toys each - on top of what Mum/Dad had bought us! Too much for kids!!!

She used to go potty and put it all in black sacks, fill them up and dump them in the garage and us kids used to go out there disgusted when we discovered the tidy rooms and gradually drag it all back in again.

Of course, this was pre-eBay

Good luck with your challenge - I am SO bored here with OHs house looking so "show homey" that I am desperate to get onto my own place!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

missyg - no shelves ?????? You'll have a bare corner !! That would just drive me nuts.............I'd just have to put something there, either a plant, chair, small table -oh dear then I'll fill it up.................lol

    I sometimes fear there's no - or very little - hope..............:rotfl:

Angela.. that sounds like my house.. they get 2 large boxes of stuff each at christmas.. then they get a binbag each from my gran and a binbag each from my mother. Then they get a binbag each from MIL.. and another binbag from gran-IL, SIL and various other estranged rellies!!! 2 boxes and 4 binbags of stuff each is a bit much.. Thankfully MIL, GIL, SIL and my gran usually get them bin fodder.. I am one of 10, hubby is 1 of 3.. my mother is 1 of 6. so it is manic at christmas in here!!! I gave up on trying to keep it habitable bixed the lot and stuffed it in their rooms.. I STILL have a huge tub of stuff in my front room!!

Just wanted to tell you all about what I received from a lovely Freecycle lady......

A big veggie box chock-full of scrapbooking supplies!!! There's all sorts in there, albums (brand-new, unopened!), punches, paper stacks (also brand new), hundreds and hundreds of stickers, some embelishments...

Will be FANTASTIC to start my nephew's album. He turned 1 last Sunday and I still haven't printed any of the photos I have of him...

My very organised friend (I have always been jealous lol!) used to hide away some of the presents and bring them out every few months (then she actually used to get rid of stuff they didn't play with/was broken, etc).

I used to think she was really mean, but actually, particular when kids are small - its probably a very sensible thing to do - more difficult when the kids are older I guess.

I don't have children, but if OH and I are ever blessed, I think (for my own sanity) being tough about it must be the way to go!

We are due to start "trying" (hate that term!) for kids when we move, and I am already planning the under-skeiling shelves and boxes to fit in them to put all the toys in!!!!

    Hi everyone!

Bit of advice needed with decluttering please. I have loads and loads of college textbooks which I no longer need - would I be better off selling them via ebay or amazon do you think?

Angela thanks so much for the sweet words about my little boy! I'm a really proud Mum, he's a fantastic kid. Those pictures are over a year old now so that's something else I can do - update them. Hmm, about the house offer, buyers could be playing a bit of a game with you - good plan to hold out and see what happens. I hope you get your asking price... and I hope it all goes according to plan with starting a family too :D

Mary nooo I'm planning to get just a low cabinet and have the TV on top. Maybe one day I'll have one of those fancy flatscreen TVs but at the moment I just don't watch enough TV to justify it. But it won't be a bare corner :D

Mellika that sounds like a fab Freecycle result for you!

Arwenelf hi there - I think you're going to get divided opinions, all I can suggest is research both options, see whether they are selling better on one than the other? (Maybe FFM or someone else can confirm if it's possible to search completed sales on Amazon like you can on ebay?)

Tomorrow I'm going to sort through son's old schoolbooks which is the only place left I haven't looked for this ONE MISSING PHOTOGRAPH - arghhhh! If it's not there then it's definitely lost and I will have to dig out the negative and get it reprinted. Hassle!
