I am at present sorting out our house of clutter, at the moment i`m sorting through the airing cupboard. My kids are grown up now, so why have i kept hold of kiddies duvet covers? They`re going to a friends tomorrow for her kids, also i`ve found a load of old towels and double duvet sets.I`ll give those to a pet charity.

how do you go on posting 50+ items. is the post office ok with it. if it works I guess I couldf use that to get rid of alot of stuff from ebay sales etc. Any advice welcome. Thanks T

hiya, our post office is a small sub post office so they have told us they welcome the business as each parcel through their system sort of counts like a customer and helps them stay open - there also used to be a real post office but that has changed to a sub in a shop. when we've mentioned we're causing a queue, our postmistress has said not to worry as you've waited your turn etc. we don't always take that much in at once but we did cause a queue with our 50 parcels:o . post office was empty then a queue slowly built up as only one serving but she was fine and the queue was soon dealt with and post office empty again a few minutes later.

I've recently made about £120 through ebay but fimd it hideously addictive. Keep finding myself pricing up cherished items!

Hope I don't offend anyone, jumping on someone's else's thread.
We decided to hire a 8 metre skip over the Easter break in a major bid to de-clutter and blitz the place, once and for all.
I went on-line to join the local freecycle group hoping to give away a few outgrown kids garden toys, wood from the garage (OH is a builder), etc.
Fine. Skip arrived nice and early Thursday am, and was placed over our front brick wall onto our garden.
I didn't hear anything from the Mods on freecycle, so was unable to post my giveaways. No problem. I put the toys, a bike, old computer swivel chair, some plant pots and other things just inside our gateway with my homemade 'Free' sign.
Over the morning most things were taken. No problem.
OH found some out-of-date beer in the garage, so that went in the skip, along with some long forgotten weedkiller. A couple of catnic lintels went in too alongside his faithful but old, and now kn@ckered, cement mixer. I said we were blitzing! (To get my OH to out anything, well, seriously, it must be completely past it). The cement mixer was all but a shell of one - no engine, you get the picture?
On top of all the rubbish in the skip we placed some broken trellis, an old bag of lime tree cuttings... The usual stuff.
Anyway, yesterday I went out so no-one was home for a few hours. On my return I was surprised to see the trellis off the skip. I got out of my car and guess what?
    Someone had raided the skip!
The old cement mixer and lintels were gone! The out-of-date beer, too!
The whole skip reeked of weedkiller and the bag of lime had been split and spilled everywhere.
Now I've heard of folk dumping stuff in other people's skips overnight, but to raid one in broad daylight? And to take old faithful! Honestly!

Pigpen thank you for showing us around your home :D Let us know how the fireplace job goes. I agree with you Clutterfree, my taste is minimalist/modern and I wouldn't buy an older house full of features that someone else would enjoy, only to rip them all out!

Lemon Tree you mustn't feel guilty if you don't manage to do something in an evening. Please don't put that pressure on yourself :)

Great job Ditz, Caseystar & Nuttywoman :D

Chardonnay, I think our Post Offices are similar, mine have also said to me that they appreciate the business. I would hate to lose them as it's walking distance and sooo convenient!

CGG, had to smile at your story! Sounds like a successful blitz too, good for you!

Viv, loving those 'before' photos, shall be waiting with baited breath for the afters later!

My ebay update: 11 items listed, target a modest £20. £5.80 in bids so far. 6 things ready to list this evening and hopefully I'll add a few to that this afternoon.

Skiving off this morning to go for a massage ;)

Have bagged up the copper coins we had lying around. I'm also going to sort out my foreign coins and bag the stuff that's still legal tender into the respective currencies (to use when I return to places).

Anyone know of something useful I can do with old French Francs, German Marks etc? I have lots of pre-Euro coins. My son used to play 'shop' with them so that's why I kept them, but he's outgrown that now.

missyg I have a feeling that there is a charity that take old foreign coins but can't remember which one, sorry. No doubt someone else will come along with some info.
