We've cleared some space in the garage today - hubby has a mobility scooter he can no longer use, so the Shopmobility lady came today to see if they could take it off our hands - which they can (we did look into selling it, but this type of model doesn't seem to shift either locally or on eBay).

So that now means that once they collect it next week, when we open the garage door we will actually be able to see some of the floor, lol - which is perfect timing for carboot season as I can stuff it all in there now rather than bunging up the hall with boxes.

My dress agency appointment last week was good - she took about half (roughly a medium suitcase full), with a comment to bring half of what was left back in September for the winter season. Hopefully in about 6 weeks time I'll be able to go and collect lots of pennies, and very few, if any, items of clothing.

Other than that, not much happening here - I have various baking/preserving jobs to get done before Easter, so the decluttering is taking a back seat, although the kids are aware that they're doing a major toy sort straight after easter, as there's nowhere to put the presents for 2 of their birthdays (one last week, one end of April), so they're already pulling the odd bit out here and there.

I have a tabletop sale to do mid May, so that's my target date now.

    :)

    Hmmm....bit of an ebay query...

I listed a store voucher....£10 voucher and it sold for £9.75...so with the 50p p & p it will have cost the buyer £10.25....why on earth would someone pay that for something worth £10...I just don't get it? (Not complaining mind you!!) Must be some scam at work here surely??? Paid by Paypal tho and its not the first voucher I've sold for so close to face value:confused:

*sorry...probably should be on the ebay thread but those peeps scare me on that thread!* :o

apparently some sellers buy vouchers with their profit etc instead of declaring it to the tax man

  • I'm sitting here at 4am still surrounded by huge amounts of clutter. Up until yesterday I really hadn't been taking this decluttering lark very seriously, I still had loads of boxes of stuff I was convinced I was going to list on Ebay and make my fortune. Anyway, rather foolishly my OH and I had been viewing houses even though ours isn't ready to go on the market, and there's no chance of it being ready with all this clutter. But we've now found a house we've fallen in love with, which is big enough and means we'd be mortgage free.

What the heck am I doing holding on to stuff that might make me pennies on Ebay, more likely nought, if we could be mortgage free!!! I need my head examining. That's why I'm up at this god forsaken hour, as I can't sleep and I've decided to use the time to do some serious flinging.

Well done to everyone on all their hard work so far, and wish me luck, I need to catch up with all of you.

    Tibbie,

Believe me, I know how hard it is to fling stuff that you might make a bit of money off :o However, if you have the chance to buy your dream house and be mortage free (at what is probably quite a young age), go for it :j

Good luck with the flinging, be careful, it can be very addictive and theraputic :T

I can also relate to what you are saying Tibbie!

I had a huge pile of stuff to go on ebay and it kept growing as I didn't sell a single item on ebay for over 2 years!! I gave a whole load away!

After reading this thread I was encouraged to try ebay again especially as I want to save up for a holiday next year (and hubby has no job at the moment minor problem!!). I have made over £50 (after taking off my payouts) which was great. It's a learning process though!!

I still have a room piled high with stuff to sell on ebay!! But finally I am actually doing some of it!!

Good luck to you (i'm not so good at the flinging but 2 bags went to the 2nd hand shop today and even better nothing came home!!)
  • I've taken 3 large moving boxes of stuff to the charity shop today, put a load of books into storage, I know that's not what I should be doing but I find it hard to part with books, and at least it's free storage. I've also sent my OH down the dump with furniture to be recycled.

OH had enough space to paint the living room today, just the ceiling to finish off tomorrow.

Must get on, the estate agent is coming round tomorrow to re-evaluate our house.

Hi all I have been naughty this week and havent been keeping on top of the housework. Tonight I am doing the living room, hall, kitchen and dining room (which shouldnt take too long) and then thinking of a plan of action for upstairs (which will be horrendous!)

Need to sort a load of stuff for ebay/freecycle/charity shop etc.

I determined to have it all done in time for summer! x x

  • Had a productive day stuck indoors and persuaded DS (5) to part with some outgrown toys. Sorted and binned the rubbish but now sorting my way through the to go piles - boxing up where I can and deciding on NCT sale/charity shop/freecycle. Will take a week or so but will be gone by next weekend.

I will have my dining room floor back - what's left fits in the toy boxes!!

Five minute internet surf then back to it..

    Moam
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Crafty scholar - don't worry. G-Plan was indeed a very good quality manufacturer - BUT, they made sturdy, firm sofas. They suit the type of person who may have difficulty getting up from a squishy soft seat - particularly old people with dicky hips and joints. My old mother-in-law has a G-Plan suit and she likes to sit upright and feel supported.

Your sofa deserves a good home from someone who will apreciate its quality and its 'comfort'. So, let it go!

    All the best.
    Thanks for advice
    Sofa has just been collected
    Now need to rearrange furniture
Also got a freecycler coming to collect some bits and pieces from kitchen (saves having to get it to the charity shops)
Now the sofa has gone think I might be in mood to clear more stuff.
