Morning All!
Well it is such a lovely morning here I decided to wash the car!
Actually got quite hot and sweaty which surprised me.
Not going to get much decluttering done today as I have to collect my boys at 1.45pm and we are all off to the dentist....
Still keeping on top of the laundry, got some drying and as soon as it is dry, I shall iron it. I am determined not to let it slip again and keep on top of it.
Also have a small bit of shredding to do. May not seem a huge thing to most of you but I usually let this mount up, so again I am pleased that I only have a few bits to shred which I shall do when I log off here.
Well, did any of you experience the "earthquake" last night? We are in Lincolnshire so it woke us up. Hubby got really confused and said "OMG what's happening???" I stayed calm and said "It's just an earthquake - it will stop in a mo!" :rotfl: It's the third one we have had since I moved up here in 1991 - hubby slept through the last 2 - I didn't so knew what was happening this time.
Anyway, after checking the boys weren't distressed, want to know what my next thought was?
"That quake had better not have made any soot come down the chimney as I cleaned out the fireplace yesterday!"
Have a good day one and all.
Amazing how a little bit of sunshine lifts the spirits.
PS Pigpen - hope you are feeling better today. Hugs for you and bunnies.Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

I haven't posted on this thread for a while beacause I thought rather than telling you how bad I am at decluttering, I should just shut up and get on with it!!! So , although I haven't done anywhere near as much as a lot of you have, I have at least started!!!!
I sold a few things on Ebay and have a few more listed. I took a huge moving box filled with stuff to RSPCA shop. And I've finally let go of my huge collection of cardboard boxes to recycling, I know it sounds weird but I was saving those boxes for sending out Ebay stuff, but then again I'm so slow at listing they have just sat in a big pile in the living room!!!! OH has been going mad about these boxes, but, as I said, I've finally let go. What a sad hoarder I am!
There was a Sue Ryder bag on the doormat this morning, so that is being filled at the moment. Must get on and keep up the momentum.
Keep up the good work everyone!!!0 -
My parents live in north lincs and I phoned my mum this am to check they are alright (they are in their 70s) Mum said that the earth did move for her last night, and dad woke up just after mum felt some tremors!!!:rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway, They had a fall of soot down the chimney because of the earthquake and some of their cds had moved and fallen slightly. She said it felt like there was an aeroplane about 6 ft above the house and she heard rumbling so loud she was sure the chimney stack was going to fall in through the bedroom ceiling. (it didn't) but some of the cement? had looseded on the chimney stack and fallen into the garden. They are both ok. I slept through it - not well again!!! sick of being ill. Getting back on topic... I have not done any decluttering today. So I've got loads to do. I want to get at least a binbag full out today!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Not done any decluttering but I have got mountains of rubbish to go out on bin day tomorrow.
Need to get into gear and get the washing finished and ironed / put away.
Got to take DS back to preschool now and may hoover later.
Our room is still clutter free. Most stuff at the moment is DIY stuff so once decorating is done it can go away too!
Dust everywhere and can't wait for it to be finished so that we can actually all sit down at the same time!

Our house was shaken not stirred last night.. there is a line of houses over 4 streets with no chimney pots and a lot of disgruntled landlords picking up bricks this morning lol.
My ornaments and bits on sills etc have moved abotu 4 inches.. DS1 was tipped out of bed.. he has a rickety high sleeper that once it got a wiggle on couldn't stop, gained momentum and flung him out. My sister was terrified she lives in the attic room of a 4 storey house!!!!!!!!!! everythign fell off the shelves, the cats were hysterical she was frightened.. obviously.. it was incredibly scary.. and I don't scare easily!!!
My mother was standing turning her pc off and had to sit as it was not possible to stand.
The crack in my hearth has opened up and there is a new crack down the kitchen wall.. nothing is broken or damaged though and I am just glad everyone is safe! A house can be rebuilt a person can't!
I've some shoes to fling on ebay once I find the infernal camera charger!!!!
4 things to post.. after packing. 2 claims to out in for missing parcels! and the freecycle bricks are being collected tomorrow night... the buggy person hasn't got back to me nor has the woman about the desk so I'm offering them to the next person down the list!.. they don't want them that much do they if they can't be bothered to reply?LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Wasn't aware of the earthquake here in suffolk.
Another bag went to charity shop. I still have to declutter under the kitchen sink - I have shoe polish and 'special' shoe creams which have lived in 2 houses and I last moved 10 years ago!! So I think if I was going to use them at all I would have by now (yes, they are unopened!).
I still have to venture into loft but will wait til DD comes back tomorrow and start that maybe next week. We did some last summer so it is just little steps at a time for me as there is a lot of sentimental stuff up there (ah but what use is it there??).
Decluttered my library books and am down from the max 20 (!!) to 5 and DD has a couple of them.
Have in-laws coming for the weekend so that prompted me to declutter our bedroom as we usually give them that. It looks much better now so am planning on keeping it that way.
Decluttered bathroom by just leaving out one shampoo, one shower gel etc. Somehow they had accumulated. i am usually quite good at keeping bathroom clutter free so I'm not sure how it sneaked up on me. I have put the rest into a bag and will take one out as one finishes. No more choice!
The freezer is almost decluttered as we have menu planned and used stuff from there during February. It saved loads of money! I am looking forward to doing some batch cooking and filling it up again.
Keep with it everyone. There is just so much less to keep tidy when things aren't all cluttered up!

anyone got any ideas what to do with coat hangers, other than landfill? DH insists we need to keep them all despite having no ironing and 2 great big carrier bags full of them.
Excuse me for interupting this thread as I am a lurker rather than a poster. I keep (plastic/wire) hangers in our suitcases and take them with me when we go away. There is never enough hangers supplied in hotels in this country so I use them and leave them.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -
Hiya
I'm new to this thread and am inspired by you de-clutterers. I started a 'sort out' when we went into the new millenium -yep 2000. I emptied our house loft into the garage and decided it wasn't all going back. Well I failed and most of it did!
However over the last couple of years things have got better and I've sold 100's of things on ebay, sent loads of bags to charity shops and donated to school tombolas etc...
I really want to get this completed this year, so I'm going for it in 2008.
So I'm joining in if that's OK?
as for the earthquake - yep here too even though we are over 100 miles away!0 -
Hello and welcome ches and moneypooh. I am always full of good intentions, I did manage to make the loft the tidiest room in the house a coupple of weeks ago...unfortunately it still is the tidiest room in the house. I am nursing a bad headache today. Don't know what's wrong with me. The right of my head/eye hurts, but when i went for a lay down I lay on my right side and I got pins and needles and numbness twice in my left hand-and my hand or arm weren't pressing on anything. very strange!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043
